“Soooo good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

Being European our tastes are completely different to most in the u.s.a. We,ve found the food heavy but not at Le Petit Valentien. Our starters of red spinach and pear with caramelised walnuts, and a crostini of mushrooms set the pace. Followed by beautifully cooked duck in plum sauce, and pork loin in pancetta with a smoked fig sauce. Where we found room for the light baked lemon cheesecake I shall never know. Wines mostly French and we were looking for Californian and managed to find two excellent wines. If you,re in the area well worth a visit. We went on a Friday and it was full just rearranged things to squeeze us in should have booked. In La Arcada an arcade off State Street in Figueroa St. City lot parking just around the block.

“Great food at a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

We went to the Petit Valentien after reading reviews on trip advisor and it was really worth it.
We both had mussels as an entree. Great sauce and wonderful mussels. My husband had a steak and I had duck for main. The prime rib steak which was more like a slice roastbeef came with some vegetables and to our surprise a Yorkshire pudding. The duck was served with creamy mashed potatoes. Yum Yum.
Will definitely go back if we are in the area.
The Rhone wine was very good too.

“One of Santa Barbara's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Le Petit Valentien is fast becoming my favorite Santa Barbara restaurant. I wouldn't miss having dinner there when I'm in town. The small dining room is very pleasant and service is attentive. Food is to die for, and the wine list is adequate. Then there are the prices: most entrees are only $19. Definitely one of Santa Barbara's best.

“A delightful restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We made a reservation here based on the Trip Advisor reviews. It was wonderful. If I lived anywhere near Santa Barbara, I'd come here often.

“Simple and lovely French fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Went with a friend and had a lovely meal. The service was particularly wonderful and helpful. We were uncertain about which wine to select and our waitress brought us a small taste of the two we were debating about. Very nice gesture.

It was hard to know what came with the entrees and again, our waitress kindly reviewed everything that came with each dish and explained how they were prepared. Both of our meals were delicious and were every bit as great as her descriptions.

We shared a salad for the first course, and they kindly put it on to two plates without being asked to do this. We also shared a (very decadent!) dessert and although they didn't split this on two plates, brought two forks and spoons for us to enjoy the lovely finish to our meal.

Overall, the ambiance, the food, the service and the whole experience was extremely enjoyable. Highly recommended!
