I live in Santa Barbara and showed up 40 minutes early to make sure my young daughter and two friends could get on the 12:00 Landshark for her birthday. We were the first ones there. There was no marked area to wait. A nice older couple (locals as well) showed up to wait and we chatted. We waited by the sign and the crowd grew and grew! The Landshark showed up and as it attempted to park, the crowd swarmed and pushed. The driver literally yelled for everyone to get back and the first person in line would be the first person to get to the end of the wall. I rushed to the wall as everyone else did. He then announced that some guy about five or six people down from us would be the first person in line, but he was not even at the end of the wall like he had just said. Everyone swarmed again into a ball this time around this man. It was chaos! I followed the Landshark man's directions and left my spot to join the line quickly, but most people did not budge and stayed in a mob at the front of the line. Nevertheless, the mob was let on, and the older couple, along with my daughters small birthday group were not let on! I am very disappointed in how unfair the whole thing went down. Previous to the attempted trip, I researched carefully how to make sure we would get on since it was a birthday party. I visited the website and talked over the phone with someone who assured me if I got there early I would get on. Not anywhere was it mentioned to line up at a wall, nor are there any markings at the site to notify you of this. The employees handled the situation terribly in my opinion.
