“Beautiful spot - shame about the oil”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

We found this beach in Santa Barbara because it was dog friendly. the beach is beautiful, access is from the top of a cliff with a huge flight of stairs down. Lots of people out for morning walks, runs etc, it was very much a local spot which was nice.

On the beach, we were delighted to find rock pools with lots of sea life that kept the kids very happy. there were lots of dogs being walked on the beach and atmosphere was friendly and welcoming.

To our dismay, we soon realized that the beach was literally covered in spots of tar. It was on everyone's feet, on shoes and worst of all, all over out dog. I mean all over her.

We were given a helpful tip by a local to use mineral oil to remove it, which thankfully worked, but it was a major job and we avoided that beack afterwards. there was a little tar to be seen all over the area, but nothing link it was there.

“too bad it's so popular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

This used to be a great little secret spot. Easy access to a great beach with lots of dolphin sightings. But now it has become crowded and the restaurant is overly busy with long, long waits, even during the work week. What was once easy parking, is now a frustrating crawl around and around the small lot. But who can not enjoy the beautiful scenery? It is still worth the trouble.

“Great spot to walk your dogs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Easy to get to. Miles of off leash as well as on leash beach front to walk upon. The Douglas Family Preserve adjacent to Arroyo Burro is also dog friendly and offers great views.

“Great dog beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

A nice place to walk by the ocean and let your dog enjoy running on the sand and swim. The dog off leash part is big enough to walk quite a ways down, and people are very conscientious about cleaning up after their pooches.

“Fun for dogs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

I really liked this beach - everyone is friendly. There is off and on - leash area, and everyone respects that. Parking can be a challenge, but overall, I highly recommend it.
