“No Information”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Pretty place, but you won't be there very long. The bathroom is only at the entrance & the paths aren't long. The redwood area was nice, but I'd say the rest of the park (in terms of beauty) was only average. The missing piece was the lack of informational signage. I enjoyed walking through the park, but didn't learn anything. To get any information on the plants, I had to look at tiny, silver tags on the ground with only their scientific name (if that) & look it up on my smartphone.

“a bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

OK - but not more than that and as we noted in the scenic drive review, getting there was better than being there ... redwoods are notable ... pricey!

“not much to see in late August”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

I'm from UK and had expected more. Didn't see much labelled and couldn't enter the garden for the Japanese tea garden. From seeing lush and beautiful planting around Californian private and public gardens I had hoped for more exciting planting here, but would be nice place to find some peace, quiet and shade for hour or two.

“End of Summer and still Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

Although you can spend more time if you wanted, the major loop only takes an hour to complete! Great staff, very helpful and courteous. Love the redwood section, but my favorite is the manzanita garden especially as you approach it from the Tea House, which in and of itself is really neat! My wife loved the visit just as you enter, turn to the right as you pass the welcome booth and looking towards the mountains, it's like your in a mountain meadow somewhere far and away. Also for you history buffs your love the early 19th century aqueduct, built by the native californians and carried water all the way down to the mission!

“OK, nothing great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Read a lot of great reviews about this place. Expected a bit more. It was a nice walk through, but nothing special. The best part was seeing the aquaducts that ran to the mission below. If you didn't go here you wouldn't be msising anything.
