“Atmosphere plus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

When we arrived at the Mission, a service was just ending, the chalk from the chalk-off festival was still bright on the courtyard, and the air was full of birdsong. It was remarkable to feel the history of a place that has operated continuously since its founding. Give yourself time to wander and appreciate -- today's decorative gardens were yesterday's work spaces. Imagine the lives that were lived here, and admire just enough artifacts to surprise not exhaust. We spent about an hour and a half all told.

Views of the ocean, rose gardens and the most beautiful of all the California Missions, a must see for visitors to SB who are interested in California history.

“Queen of the missions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

One of the larger missions known for its two towers and the beautiful ocean view from its front lawn. Also close to a wonderful small natural history museum and the botanic gardens.

“Mission is great, but if you have to choose just one . . . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I'm told the Mission is the number one tourist attraction in town - it's the "Queen of the California MIssions" It also sits across from a beautiful rose garden and a walk around the area is truly a beautiful experience. There's also a lot of history there - good and bad about the relations between the indians and chruch. But I'm totally biased that the Santa Barbara Court House is the most impressive tourist attraction. It's been called, "The most Beautiful Public Building in the country." And keep in mind it was built when there were only 34,000 souls living in Santa Barbara. It takes up an entire block and the view from the tower is hard to beat. So if you just have time for one I recommend the court house. But better yet visit both.
