“Clean but no frills”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

The Days Inn at San Simeon has two plusses: It's clean, and it's a 5-minute drive (at the most, including parking time) to Hearst Castle. The management was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. My husband even remarked that the carpet smelled fresh, which he found while he was doing his stretching and exercise. DO NOT expect anything decent out of their complimentary continental breakfast. No source of protein whatsoever. Stale yucky Danish, white bread only for toasting, pancake mix with a waffle maker. The juice dispenser had orange juice and apple juice, but they were awful. Coffee was decent, nothing special. There was a little cafe next door that was open for breakfast. We really wish we had gone there instead. But again, the room was clean and comfy, and the staff was very nice. We would stay there again, probably.

This is the most disgusting and dirty motel I have ever stayed in. There was mold in the shower, holes in the walls and dirt and grime everywhere. Do not stay here. Horrible contintintal breakfast. Watered down coffee and a muffin. Prepaying for this stay was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I have pictures to prove it. Almost runied my whole vacation. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Room Tip: Disgusting motel...Do not stay here...It will ruin your whole trip..Dirty, I mean very dirty.

I got an one night stay at the Days Inn. I loved the spa tube. I went out and got one botle of wine and asked for some glass to the front desk. I had a great time relaxing. The next day we had breakfast and drove to Hearst Castle. Just perfect. I recomend the place. Xoxo

Motels in this area tend to be costly due to the proximity of attractions like Big Sur and Hearst Castle. Days Inn was relatively cheaper and ideall located on the highway.
The bed was comfy and we dozed off after a full day of visiting attractions and driving. The CRT tv worked , the shower and bathroom were clean though not sparkling clean and the room itself was quite large.
Breakfast included waffles, cereals, juice machine, tea/coffee and fruits (apples, oranges). Check-in/checkout was also smooth. Its a plain but clean motel with nothing fancy about it. Great for a night's rest. And, there are absolutely no views from anywhere. But cross the road and you have a beach to yourself.

Good value, only $80 for a night, big room with balcony, overlooking the sea, well, overlooking a couple of roof tops, a road and then the sea.

Lots of parking spaces and the bed and bedding were fine. The only criticism is that the shower was luke warm and there was no seats available at breakfast, so we just took it up to our rooms. Not a huge deal, well the shower was, but I can cope with walking 50 yards with my cereal.

San Simeon is a ribbon town on the coast, seems there's little else there but motels. We stayed there to break the journey up the coast to Carmel. There's two or three diners and we walked on the beach at dusk - not much else you can do to be honest.

I meticulously research and book hotels and this one was one of 8 booked for a two week drive around California. I'd happily stay at this place again and I'm really quite fussy about where I stay!

Room Tip: There's tons of parking, some rooms face the sea, possibly all of them do actually, but the sea...

We arrived in San Simeon late on July 3rd and stayed 1 night here, as we were going on a tour at the Hearst Castle the next morning. Check in went smoothly and our room was clean. There is nothing luxurious about this hotel but it does what it has to do. I felt it was safe, there was plenty of parking, and the bed was comfortable. This place was conveniently located to Hearst Castle, just 2-3 miles away, so we only had to leave 20-25 minutes before our tour time (we wanted to get there a little early). The biggest cons about this place was that the internet barely worked (I think this is because our room was located far from the main lobby), and the breakfast area was small, so there was nowhere to sit. With that being said, the breakfast was well stocked - I had cereal, my husband had some danishes, and there were to go cups for our coffee.
