We chose to stay here overnight on our drive from LA to San Francisco. It is situated on the highway and although it's nothing fancy, it was clean, the beds were comfy, there was free internet access and free (very basic) breakfast. It also is only a few minutes drive to Hearst Castle.

If you are looking for somewhere clean to stay that isn't expensive (and many places are in this area), then stay here. We found that it was a great place to spent the night, after a visit to Hearst Castle and before we continued on our drive up the coast.

We have stayed at this motel twice and been very happy with it.
Recently we stayed there when traveling with my in-laws. We had 5 adults in their "family room", which is a quite large room with two Kings and a Queen, a small fridge and a microwave, a card-size table and 4 chairs plus an arm chair with ottoman. The staff happily brought us an additional chair.

The room was large enough for all of us to be comfortable, had windows on both sides for sunlight and air, and was on the ground floor which was good for my mother-in-law. The price was excellent, and everyone was very happy there.

The first time we stayed there it was just two of us and we had a large room with a comfortable King bed, also with fridge and microwave, and a comfortable eating table. W prefer to do our own breakfasts in the room, rather than taking huge time and money to eat at restaurants, and this motel is perfect for that kind of traveling.

It also has decent places to eat within walking distance, including a nearby place to get my morning latte (very important). (not haute cuisine mind you - this is a little town, not the big city).

Both times we have found it very clean, and staff very friendly and helpful. I easily rate it "excellent" for it's category of hotel.

exactly what you need in a room in this area. a comfortable bed, clean bathroom and something to put in stomach til lunch. if you plan on staying in your room all weekend this is not the place for you. lots activities in the area..hearst castle, wine tasting, beach walks....drive up the sur. come on people give this place a break.

i can't say i couldn't sleep, but it was close. cold wind came from the the front door, the blankets were old, the pillows weren't very clean, and i am ashame to talk about the "breakfast". if you can - sleep somewhere else.
