This is the hotel we stay in when we visit my brother. The price is great because they have a wonderful "Happy Hour" that has lots of food, enough variety to please everyone, and is more than enough for dinner. The breakfast is really good and lots of food again. Between the Happy Hour and Breakfast, we are apple to grav enough snacks to leae in the room for the whole family. The suites have a good size fridge to store food in. The only food we need to get is lunch when we stay at Hotel Sierra.

My kids enjoy the pool, is isn't the BEST pool ever, but very nice. We often grab sandwiches or pizza and the whole family will visit while the kids swim. There is a separate outdoor sitting area, away from the pool as well, that is very nice.

The suites are a nice size. There is a tv in the bedroom, and a tv in the sitting room. The only down side is that you have to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. So if you have anyone sleeping on the sofa bed, they have to go into the bedroom to get to the bathroom. Not a big deal, but it would be nice if they had a door from the sitting area into the bathroom.

The front desk always has a bowl of fruit for the guests to grab. There is also a small convience store near the elevators. I have not used the gym, but it is often busy. Wifi works great too.

Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from, but you really don't need them, because the hotel gives you so much food.

We loved the Hotel Sierra. It's probably more for business people but it's also excellent for tourists.

Firstly, it's an attractive building and well situated near the freeway at San Ramon and a 5 minute walk to 2 shopping centres with restaurants and a supermarket. There is plentiful free parking, attractive decor throughout the hotel and a great swimming pool and outdoor spar area. The business centre has computers and printers.

Our suite had a separate bedroom and small kitchen so snacks and meals could be prepared. It was quiet and well furnished with a pleasant outlook - a tree with a squirrel and much bird activity. The internet was fast and free.

The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was complimentary. 4 nights a week a complimentary dinner bistro was available which was very convenient. There was a guest laundry which was well equipped.

We enjoyed every minute of our 10 day stay and wished there were more hotels offering these types of facilities for this price.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Sierra for 3 nights to visit family in January 2009. We booked a 1 bedroom king and check-in went fairly smoothly. The clerk seemed somewhat put out when we requested a room on a higher floor (instead of our assigned ground floor room) but she changed it promptly and gave us a nice quiet room on the second floor. The room was quite spacious and it was great having two closets (one in the bedroom and one in the living room). The bed was quite comfortable. Wireless internet worked well from the room. Overall, we were quite pleased with the room and the amenities. I gave the hotel a 4 secondary to the following things:
1. Maid service was not thorough one of the days (i.e. hairs still on the shower wall after cleaning)
2. No evening reception on Thursday, January 1st
3. No omelets at the breakfast (as advertised) and there were no english muffins on the the weekend (we asked and were told they had none)
All that said, this place was nice and fairly priced compared to the other suite hotels in the area.

  • Liked — The size of the room
  • Disliked — No omelets at breakfast

There aren't many places to stay in this area, so this is probably one of the nicer ones. However, there is not much else close by. It's right off the highway.

That said, they don't have any frequent stay programs, which for business travelers, is not good. I only stayed here due to the proximity to my appointment the next morning, as I didn't know the area so well.

I had been traveling around on business and had stayed in two other suite style hotels in various towns prior to coming here. This was by far the smallest. It's just a bedroom with a couch and tiny kitchenette. Suite is not the word I would use to describe it. I was a bit underwhelmed.

The evening reception was fairly impressive and lively. There was a good offering of cold cuts, wings, salad, gumbo, wine and beer. Nothing fancy, but the gumbo was quite good. The breakfast didn't have made to order omelettes like I had read on my travel agency site. The breakfast was what you'd expect for a suite stay of this type.

All in all it was OK, but someone came into my room while I was taking a morning nap, as I had risen very early to attend to some business. My bad, I should have had the deadbolt on, but I had left and re-entered the room and this was way before check out, around 9am, and the "do not disturb" sign was on the door. It was a male, and I assumed from housekeeping, but when I called out "Hello?" and looked up in the dark room after sensing someone there, they hovered a moment and then backed out quietly, not saying sorry or announcing who they were or anything. Yes, I know, we've all had housekeeping come in by mistake from time to time, but they always announce who they are! This was just downright CREEPY!

  • Liked — the gumbo was decent
  • Disliked — creepy staff member(?) entering room silently and unannounced

My family booked a block of rooms here for an event, and the price was beyond resonable. There was not one thing that I didn't like about the place. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly & knowledgable, the location was close to the freeway and several restaurants. I would definately stay here again.

  • Liked — It was really close to dining, shopping, and my family.
  • Disliked — There was some type of flute music coming out of our clock radio, and we couldn't make it stop!
