We stayed one night at Hotel Sierra San Ramon for a music rehearsal near by. This place kicks the pants off of the Residence Inn in San Ramon!
Hotel Sierra San Ramon was well appointed and very comfortable. The beds (truly king sized) were especially comfortable. The 1-BR suite wasn't huge but was large enough for my husband, me and our two kids. The kitchen was stocked with clean (and matching!) dishes, a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and sink. The bathroom was large enough for two people to be in comfortably.
In this environmentally conscientious age, we appreciated how the room was installed with a motion detector which turned off the AC and lights once we left. The front desk staff was very cheerful and helpful with 0% attitude. Nice.
The pool was just what we (and especially our daughter) needed on a 98 degree day. It's not huge but large enough to swim some laps and splash around in ...as was the hot tub. Finally the breakfast was delicious with a wide assortment of morning goodies (and not all sugary) to fill us up before we headed out for the 105 degree day. After being up with our 4 month old only hours earlier, the coffee was wonderful at 6:30am! A seamless check out made our positive Hotel Sierra experience complete.
Our only complaint would be that I thought the happy hour occurred on Friday as well and it didn't. We were looking forward to that upon arrival but the Safeway was walking distance, so no worries, happy hour still happened. We'll DEFINITELY be back to Hotel Sierra San Ramon!
I was very pleased with my stay here at Sierra Suites. My husband, one year old son and myself stayed in a king studio, which was a bit cramped, but it was one night so it was fine.
Highlights: the hotel is very well maintained. The lobby is very comfortable and inviting. When we were there, there was a fire in their fire place by check in. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Only took a minute or two to check in, which really surprised me. Breakfast was included in our rate. They have a breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, fruit, cereal, etc. The room was very nice. Tiny kitchen, but adequate. I cooked my son's meals in there and didn't have to ask the reception staff for anything. The room has a small sofa and a tv on a swivel stand so you can watch it in your living room or on the bed. Have lots of tv/cable channels and you can rent movies at the front desk for a cost. The room comes with a shallow tub/shower, which was excellent for bathing my son. The room was very clean and looked up to date. They have a small gym, business center (don;t charge for printing) and a heated outdoor pool/jacuzzi, which we didn't use. About a five minute walk from the hotel, there is a large shopping center with taco bell, other fast food, thai restaurant, tcby, chinese food outlet and a large supermarket. Also, across the street is a spa. Also, in the lobby they sell drinks, microwavable food and some other things.
Cons: the smoke alarm is very sensitive if you cook. We didn't burn anything, but it was very sensitive and in a minute one of the reception staff came by to check things out. One cannot open the windows (or i couldn't) to get rid of the small amount of smoke.
This hotel is outstanding.....rooms are clean and well kept..public areas are similarly well maintained. The only criticism I would offer is that the cribs they provide for infants/toddlers are quite small [reminded me of the institutional ones abroad]...and made for a uncomfortable nights for our 17 months grandson..
Otherwise, outstanding place....buffet is outstanding and well restocked..front desk most efficient and courteous!
This was my first time at Sierra and I loved it. I have stayed at the name brand suites and some off brands. All are mediocre compared to Sierra.
They had a great breakfast which included meat and eggs. The rooms were compact, but very well appointed.
One awesome touch was room darkening curtains - they are heavy and go from the floor into an overhead "Box" - and since i have these at home I *know* they make a difference.
The room service was impecable - even putting dishes in the dishwasher if they were left out.
The workout room had a eliptical machine - most do not.
The front desk staff were very helpful and attentive.
I had left behind a shirt - in all my travelling this was the only hotel that tracked me down and phoned me to let me know they had it and could ship it.
The only distraction was the one elevator is very slow - but probably more noticable because it was out of place with most everything else being perfect.
