“Crying kids ruins special treat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011 via mobile

The lovely atmosphere was ruined by a table with an infant, a screaming toddler, and a small unruly child and a family that didn't give a damn that this was not a Chucky Cheese. I didn't mind so much the mother beast feeding at the Table anything to shut the baby up,! but then for the Mother to take a long cell phone call at the table was too much. I had wished the staff had suggested they take the crying children outside or tell the lady that cell phones weren't allowed but no.

“Good value, but pretty chaotic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

This is not a traditional tea room experience, so don't expect to be blown away. It was crowded, loud, and pretty chaotic - we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated for our reservation. Luckily, we had a table off in a corner and was somewhat shielded from the general chaos. The buffet selection was nice and the food was generally tasty, especially the scones - and a good value for the price compared to other tea rooms since it is buffet. It lacked the personal service that makes afternoon tea truly delightful. If I ever head back to the San Marino/Pasadena area, I will make tea reservations at the Langham Hotel instead.
