“Don't stay during the week”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

This hotel was a great location for our 10 day family vacation. We stayed because of the price and the website's photos. The rooms were nicely redone, but the bathrooms were very old and outdated. The rest of the property is crumbling, and the parking lot is so full of potholes, that it's hard to drive through. Our main problem was that Monday night, our entire floor became filled with out of town construction workers, who were VERY loud and rowdy. There was lots of drinking and noise, and we smelled pot. We had to call the front desk several times, and they were helpful and eventually moved us to the front of the hotel (which by the way, is more nicely renovated). Then the teen boys baseball team came, again very loud and disruptive. It's a good value, but next time we will pay more for a place that doesn't attract this kind of crowd.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the front, where the construction workers do not stay.

Daniel I, General Manager at Rose Garden Inn, responded to this review, July 22, 2014
I want to sincerely apologize to you and your family for being inconvenienced during your stay with us this summer. We take pride in our great customer service and the cleanliness of our rooms and public areas. Unfortunately, the hotel is very popular in the summer because of the above mentioned, and the great rate. Sometimes when we get sports teams or groups of people, the staff has to work extra hard to make sure our guests are happy. We are generally a very quiet place and, as you can see by the majority of the comments, our guests are happy with the property. We are making improvements everyday, and we would love for you to come back and try us again.
Sincerely,
Daniel Ibarra
General Manager

Stayed there to visit San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Great location for
Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Hearst Castle and wineries. Clean
rooms, soft beds, excellent staff. Enjoyed pool area. Great value. Will

This place was OK, considering it was Cal-Poly graduation weekend. If it had just been renovated, I was hard pressed to see it. Our bathroom fixtures were not in good repair. The walls are very thin and it is noisy. The bed was comfortable and I was happy to find the coffee in the check in area. The staff was helpful and courteous.

Considering the $80 price per night you cant go wrong! Nice staff, clean rooms, great pool, close to Pirates Cove, a local make-out for the teenagers, Hearst Castle, Madonna Inn.
On Thursday the "downtown" shuts down its street for a great street fair of local fare!

This place was horrible. When I called to reserve a room I wanted to make sure I got a renovated room I was assured they had all been renovated and the website just needed to be updated. There was mold on the blinds the sliding door was hard to open and the front entry doors stuck so if there was a fire and you need to get out quickly it would be hard to get out. There was a chair that had stains all over it as well as the footstool. I don't know why they even left it in the room. Horrible sewage smell throughout the hall and room. We had to change rooms, the first room you couldn't even watch the TV all the channels were static second room was not much of an improvement. The toilet was not bolted to the floor I believe that's where the sewage smell was coming from. On the website it advertises there's coffeepots and irons in the every room there was not it either room we were in. We were in town for a family medical emergency it was late and didn't have time to find something else as we were exhausted and stressed. This was a total disappointment complete disaster and will never return again. Avoid at all costs especially if you have asthma or other breathing problems as there's mold growing all over the blinds.

I was staying in this hotel for a weekend and was greatly surprised by how friendly and helpful the front desk staff was. Daniel was there to check me in and let me know about the delicious restaurant next door, you have to try the Margies mushroom omelette, and Mary was there to tell me about some wonderful shopping in downtown while I enjoyed some complimentary coffee. They were both so helpful and made my stay that much better!
