“Great location & price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

Only stayed for 1 night while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway. The price was really low & the location was less than a 5 minute drive to the Sunset drive in movie threate which is why we chose the hotel, it's also close to rib line which does really good food. The hotel room was large and clean but we used the hotel to sleep in so I can't comment on anything apart from the room, price & location and all were great for me.

We stayed here for two nights during Memorial Day week. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the free fruits and coffee provided at the lobby and its hot tub was wonderful. It had everything we needed: a hairdryer, a coffee maker, a small refrigerator, a microwave, and an iron with iron board. The room was renovated so it looked clean and fresh. The only minor downside was the old faucets in the bathroom. The water flows may be not strong enough for some people. The landscape was beautiful with flowers, especially roses everywhere. It is closed to Freeway 101, and very convenient to SLO downtown, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, and San Simeon (Hearst Castle and Elephant Seal viewing). We will definitely visit this hotel next time we travel around the central coast.

Just like I contend. It is the human touch. In a place, where you get it? Say, buying things, walmart or smalltown store? If you ask me, I'll go to smalltown store. Why? I like person to person interaction. I want to meet people, I want to make friends. I want to expand my world. I been around and I always seek/stay in a smalltown hotels. Hamlet, in Solvang, Blue Lagoon in Monterey, Tres Palmas, in Lake Havasu, Sunset Chateu, in Sedona, Ripplewood Cabin, in Big Sur, Blue Sands, in Sta. Barbara. I can go on and on. How would know or feel the town or country if you confined yourself in your own box. This hotel, Rose Garden Inn in San Luis Obispo is just that explicitly friendly and responsive to your needs. You'll feel your back home in your grandma's house. How's that. Stay out of your own box whenever you go out for pleasure or business and I believed you'll feel the same as I do. Give it a try.

After a while searching for good price & good place to stay for My family 2 nights spring break 04/11/13 & 04/12/13, also we try to find out the location neighbor of San Luis Obispo school- ready for my daughter admit to Cal Poly School. This hotel is around 2 miles from Cal Poly School & down town. Near the Beach and Pismo Outlet. We paid $157/ 2 nights including Tax for family of 4 –we book through online.
We arrive early at 12noon, instead ontime check in 3pm / Hotel policy. The manager is really helpful . He let us check in early without additional charges. The front desk friendly
Hotel have 2 level; look old ; have nice little garden and pool. we stay upper level ( hotel no elevator ) if you carry big luggage – make sure request first floor.
Free coffee. Free WiFi . Inside the room have refrigerator and Microwave,
The room is clean, the bathroom OK; including Hair dryer . The bathroom have trouble due valve on the sink really hard to turn on & off. The toilet has to press and hold each time use for flushing ….
With the price we paid compare with other hotel, at the time that I booked with me it was a good deal. if you need place to stay & rest- this hotel is ok. Don't expect like 5 star hotel - I could value 3 star hotel. but service 4 stars.
Hope this review, could help you make a right decision to choose the hotel that you expect. Have a great vacation at Luis Obispo

We stayed going from Santa Barbara to SF Bay. Sandwiched between a Courtyard and a Hampton Inn, the Rose Garden has to try harder, and it shows. Very nice grounds (if you like roses), Clean, spacious rooms, and pet (and human) friendly. Wife was disappointed because the windy day precluded swimming. We shared an order from Margie's next door and slept like babies. Best of all, Miss Sophie was happy. We'll stop again on our next road trip South.

Room Tip: Double queen rooms are larger than single king, not that it's an issue. We appreciated first flo...

We stayed there twice on our road trip from LA to SF and were really happy with everything.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is really nice. The Jaccuzi and pool are perfect to relax after a long drive. Even if close to the freeway rooms are not noisy.
If you are hungry there is also a great dinner just walking distance. Margie's dinner serves quality but HUGE portions so just be aware!
