“Terrific value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We've stayed here many times now and appreciate the friendly service, complimentary evening cocktails, terrific breakfast & small but sufficient workout room. We'll stay here many more times for Cal Poly events. This property is also central to everything in the area.

Dear Dan P,

Thank you and I agree terrific value indeed, and this is across the entire brand. My massive appreciation to you is that you complimented the team for their friendliness, this is my passion and allows us to be just a little different to other hotel stays.

Thank you again and we truly look forward to your next visit to San Luis Obispo and visiting Calpoly.

Cheers

The room and hotel was clean. I stayed here based on a recommendation of the location to shopping. Needs an update. The service was good and the staff was very helpful. The fitness center could use some additional equipment to compete with other Hilton properties like Hilton Garden Inn,

Dear Michael S,

Thank you and very much appreciate your honesty, as mentioned we are slightly more mature than some other Embassy Suites across the country, but appreciate you stating our cleanliness and team, this is what we can 100% deliver. Our fitness centre equipment, although will not help on this occasion, is being completely changed within the next two weeks as we have a five year full replacement program supported by the Embassy Suites Brand, so you will be seeing brand new equipment across the brand over the next several months.

Thank you again and we look forward to your next visit to San Luis Obispo.

This hotel was ok. it was kind of hard to find off the 101 freeway central coast area.
It was clean and I would stay there again, but in comparison to other embassy suites it was older and dated.
It is connected to a shopping area and a Tahoe Joes which was nice- we didn't have to drive anywhere.

Dear Allegra3201,

Thank you for your time and allowing me to continue to understand what we need to do to continue to get that much better. We are a slightly maturer hotel than some Embassy Suites across the country, however as you saw we maintain very high standards in cleanliness and how we, the team, can deliver excellence.

We continue to improve on our hotel, most recently HD service to all guest suite LCD Televisions, we have fiber optic arriving in the next four weeks that we deliver exceptional service, our fitness centre will be having all new equipment within the next two weeks. Without you are guest informing us of our opportunities and congratulating us on our abilities we cannot deliver perfect, and I thank you for your comments.

Cheers

This was our second stay at the Embassy, and we were not disappointed. The suite was large, clean, and had a small refrigerator and microwave. The reservation comes with their full breakfast and their happy hour with two complimentary drinks . The staff was wonderful--you could tell they really enjoyed working at the Embassy. The bartender at the happy hour gave us wonderful informaton about having dinner at the restaurant. It is located in a shopping area with several shops nearby, a grocery store, and a Star Bucks! It is just a short drive to the downtown area. We always walk along the creek and really suggest lunch or dinner on the patios overlooking it. Thursday nights there is a great Farmer's Market with food and music. The beach areas are also close by. We definately suggest a stay at the San Luis Obispo Embassy Suites and will be taking our own advise the next time we are in that area.

Room Tip: Ask for the parking lot view and request not to be in one of the rooms where the bedrooms overlook t...

Thank you for being our guest once again, I can only speak for myself, but yes I love it here and the main reason is the team and of course our guest. I always try and stay at Embassy Suites when traveling. Love the atmosphere and custom breakfast options. We had a bit of trouble finding the place...it is tucked behind a shopping area...TomTom was not any help...after finding the place, our check in was bordering on a nightmare. They could not find our reservation even though I had booked months in advance and had my confirmation page and number.,..they ended up delivering a free bottle of local wine to our room for our troubles at check in. That was a nice touch. The hotel was clean and the business center was nice and in working order when we needed to print our boarding passes. The room was clean and well appointed. We would stay here again if in the area.,..especially now that we actually know where the hotel is located. ;0)

Room Tip: Your navigation tools will be put to the test finding this hotel...it is in a weird spot. Call and...

Dear Kermit4655,

I know and I am very sorry about both matters 1) we are investigating the challenge you had upon your check in as certainly if you made it our system should have found it rather easily - if your time allows to inform me of the name that you reserved under I will be able to furnish you with some additional details, 2) location - as we were originally part of the indoor San Luis Obispo Mall we all had the same address, however when the mall was demolished we and the anchor store remained and this meant we had the original address which is indeed 333 Madonna Road - however the anchor store is actually on 333 Madonna Road all the new stores have new addresses but we are unable to, so the new GPS options we all have does indeed state you are here when actually you need to still turn down Dalidio Street, again sorry about this.

Delighted that the team here delivered excellence during your stay and that we delivered the un-expected surprise - we appreciate your being our guest and allowing us to just keep getting better.

Thank you.

First of all, our family loves Embassy Suites in general for at least 3 reasons
1. The breakfast!!
2. All the Embassy Suites we have visited had an indoor pool, great for the lids year round
3. The Suites. The parents can watch another movie and have a glass of wine after the kids went to bed in the other room.

What was special about this hotel? The service! I am a frequent traveler and used to good service by the majority of hotels these days. The staff went out of their way to help whenever they could. During breakfast we asked what activities we could try with our 6 and 8 year old kids and we got a great download with a beautiful smile. The next couple days we covered all the recommended activities and the kids loved it. Walking the wonderful beach at Pismo Beach where we found hundreds of sand dollars, visiting the rock in Morro Rock, a kayak trip (unfortunately it rained but it was still fun), just about the right amount of activities for a 4 day trip.
About the location of the hotel; yes, it is at the end of a mall area and the area includes several food places like Tahoe Joe's and Hometown Buffet in walking distance as well as a big supermarket "Ralphs" which we did not know before and missed it first.
Overall we found the location to be very convenient if you need to buy a few things such as beverages, small rewards for the kids when they behave or simply our evening white wine.
I would recommend this hotel any time for a business traveler as well as for a family.
Before I forget, I was arguing with myself whether I give it four or five stars because the hotel really needs some overhauling. The staff tries to have everything in working order and when we had a problem it took minutes until it was fixed but what the hotel needs to stay a great place where people want to visit is a real renovation.
Because if the great staff and they are going the extra mile, doing whatever seems possible to make your stay enjoyable I opted for 5 stars.

Room Tip: Any room on the upper floors (executive floors) and not facing 101 are good to have. If somebody sle...

I took my son to SLO for a campus visit to CalPoly, and this was a great place to stay. We love how there is a living area that is separated from the sleeping area with a door, so he could sleep while I worked, etc. The pool and exercise room were clean and in good repair, and the rooms were well maintained. The breakfast is truly one of the best hotel buffets I've had (and I've had many): great variety, quality, and presentation; we were impressed that they serve CalPoly egg omletts made-to-order. My son tweeted about the large quantities of thick smoked bacon.
The location is good or great, depending on your perspective: it is in the center of a sizeable strip mall with a grocery store, restaurants, and various shops, so it is surrounded by many "conveniences." On the other hand, it requires a car to get to downtown SLO or CalPoly, or most anywhere else other than the strip mall, and has little to no "local charm" as a hotel.
The service was very good. The front desk staff was helpful (especially Sharita, who helped us out of a problem with a cancelled flight), and they have an evening reception with light hors d'ouvres.

Bottom line in SLO: if you are looking for character go to the Madonna Inn, if you are looking for low-price convenience go to the Peach Tree, but if you are looking for a functional upscale spot with an amazing breakfast included go to the Embassy Suites.

Room Tip: First floor has more foot traffic, especially next to the eating area, and can be noisier.
