My daughter and I stayed here last month. We were pleasantly surprised with the location of this hotel; near lots of restaurants and shopping. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our suite was very comfortable and quiet; even with a mens soccer team staying nearby. The breakfast buffet was terrific. The happy hour was also nice. We were only a short distance from the Thursday night Farmers Market, as well. I would definitely stay here again.

We've stayed at a lot of Embassy Suites locations both in and out of California and this one was not up to the standards of the others in the chain. While the staff is friendly, the property has seen better days. Dingy walls and furniture, ill-fitting doors, carpet that has stains and elevators that sounds and run like something from the 1800s. All that is likely out of the staff's direct control.

Cleanliness, however, is clearly their preview, and this was lacking too. There was mold in the shower, dirty marks on the bathroom door frame, and hair on the bathroom floor. These are all things that could be fixed by a more careful/thorough cleaning... they don't require a remodel.

As other reviewers have stated, this ES seems to be a bit louder than others. I suspect that this is because of the low ceiling in the atrium (this location has only four floors, as opposed to the 6-11 floors at other ES where we've stayed) and because of the location (possibly a lot of Cal Poly influenced younger types playing hooligan in the halls).

I don't think we would book rooms here again, though our experience won't keep us from stating at other ES locations.

Room Tip: If you can, get something on the fourth floor far from the elevators and ice machines.

the hotel itself tries very hard however the immaturity of wait staff left a lot to be desired. Our waitress kept us waiting and came back touching her nose exclaiming she just had a massive nose bleed.. after ordereing a steak myself i was hard pressed to eat it, my partner decided not to order at all and was chided for doing so by the smart alec bartender and wait staff thge restaruant was practically empty and I can see why.

SLOCAES, Front Office Manager at Embassy Suites San Luis Obispo, responded to this review, February 27, 2012
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience while dining in our restaurant. Your commentary has been shared in detail with our entire wait-staff, culinary and management team. We simply do not accept this level of service, and you have our pledge that this will be corrected immediately.

The Greenhouse Grill and Café does have a full menu that explores the culinary diversity of the Central Coast. Our culinary team works very hard to bring you the best that the region has to offer, and we again find it very unfortunate that the level of service and commentary had such a negative affect on your dining experience. We hope to have you as our guest once again, so that you may truly be able to enjoy your dining experience with us. Best wishes to you and your colleague.

Stayed here for a holiday weekend to check out nearby spots like Monterrey aquarium and Hearst castle. My whole family enjoyed all from the nice rooms to the excellent breakfast.

Located close to Hwy 101, shopping, grocery, restaurants and beach! Complimentary breakfast buffet and manager reception is icing on the cake! Indoor heated pool allows for kiddies to swim year round and fitness room is adequate. I choose to stay here even when my usual travel destination is another 35 miles south.
