“Comfy bed and hot tub at the end of town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub and pool makes it ice to.dip in after check in and before dinner.
It is at the end of town so it is quiet but still close to a few restaurants.
While we were there th hotel lobby was going through minor renovations so we got my breakfast in our room, which was nice. We sat in the balcony overlooking the mountains.

I've been coming to La Cuesta Inn for about 5 years now. Mostly for pleasure, but occasional business. I really like the renovations, very warm and welcoming. What keeps me coming back though is the service. In particular, Jacob is fantastic. Always friendly and helpful, yet professional. Nice touch to be greeted by name after a 4 hour drive! Great breakfast, love the cookies and tea in the afternoon. As a frequent guest, it would be nice to see some sort of "points" program. Looking forward to being back Memorial Day weekend!

We were not informed about the Renovations when we booked so we were greeted by a lobby that was out of order and smelling very strongly of paint. The toilet in our room blocked very easily and as it was late at night we needed a change of room. The staff arranged this immediately without any problem which we appreciated. However the message about our change of room was not communicated to the providers of breakfast ( delivered to our room because the lobby was out of order) so that arrived half an hour late , nor apparently to the team that cleaned the room, as that was not cleaned. For our second morning the lobby was back in action . The breakfast was simple but ok.

Stayed here for a night for a cal poly event. Wanted 2 queens, but they only had a "suite" when we got around to a reservation. So, we got the "suite", and it was a king bed with a pullout coach.

The bed was great. And, the pullout couch was actually not bad at all. It was a brand new unit, and you could barely feel the metal through the mattress. Pullouts are notoriously bad, so make sure you check it when you first get to the room.

There was a nice little balcony in our room, and that was a nice view of the hills.

The lobby had some construction going on (and they did tell us about it before). Makes things kind of ugly, but that's the way it goes. There wasn't any "hot" food for breakfast like some of the other spots there, so that's a minus. They had the standard bagels, toast, cereal, etc. But, no scrambled eggs or waffles. They had hard boiled eggs out. Yuk.

Pool was fine. We had the hot tub to ourselves for a couple of hours. As usual, we had to ask for towels, but they were there lickidy split.

Parking was quite easy at all times.

Solid place to eat down the street at Pappy McGregors.

Stayed for one night and booked based on reviews. Made a mistake with our dates but hotel changed it with no problem. Hadn't known hotel was being renovated. Lobby was closes and had to get to room via garage. Nice to be able to park under cover so wasn't a problem. A bit noisy but didn't really affect us. Room comfortable and clean but a bit dark. Hotel close to freeway but not too noisy. Breakfast was delivered to our room as no lobby. Not ideal but at least we were given something. However not happy we weren't told about renovations as wouldn't have booked. Sure it will be fine once completed.

Hello Ros_Surrey, I would like to extend my apologies for the inconveniences you experienced. Our reservation agents are instructed to notify guests at time of booking and all construction work is limited to regular business hours to minimize disruption to guests. We are on the home stretch with our improvements and hope any short term annoyance will far out-weigh the end result. Our lobby is nearing completion and our breakfast area will be much improved with a spacious dining area with outdoor balcony. As part of our improvements we are planning new window dressings that will brighten rooms. Please reach out to the hotel directly to better resolve your concerns at 805-543-2777 or email us at reservations@lacuestainn.com.

Room was very large and comfortable with the only negative highlight being the shower. Staff was friendly and parking space is quite generous. Breakfast was simple but nice. Location is fine, very close to 101 and 1 Freeways and next to restaurants in San Luis downtown.

This is a really nice hotel with lots of little amenities for the money. The rooms are very clean and somewhat modern, free DVD movie rentals in the lobby, "small" breakfast buffet, ironing board in the room and to top it off excellent friendly service with a smile. I reserved two rooms and arrived at 11:30 a.m. thinking I would just have them hold my luggage until check in time, but they had two rooms available and I was able to check in without the normal hotel B.S. power trip nonsense. They also take AAA, so don't forget to get your discount. The location is awesome, just pull out of the parking lot and your on the freeway. Hotel is close to gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and a great place to walk/run in the morning if your into that. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Don't forget to get your AAA card discount.
