I made reservations well over a month in advance for this hotel. I booked two rooms with my credit card at the same time from the Best Western website. However, the night before we left my in-laws got sick and asked me to cancel their room, which I did over the phone. The next day, they decided to go on the trip with us anyway. So I called and was told they only had ONE room left and it was a King Smoking room. I took it because we had no other choice. I reserved it with my credit card and got a confirmation number. This, by the way, was over $50 more than the rate for the original room.
Upon arrival, my husband and father-in-law went to check in. They were told that we canceled the entire reservation and they were out of rooms and so we were out of luck. They came out to get my printouts as proof that we did have reservations.
The manager got upset and said the printouts didn't prove anything and that I NEVER made reservations for two rooms in the first place! He was nasty and even yelled at the other clerk who was patiently trying to show him that we did indeed have reservations.
I came into the office at that point and he was rude to me as well and said, "You called and cancelled the rooms!" I explained that I only cancelled one and then rebooked a room and showed him the confirmation number, which he dismissed as not being relevant, and said I NEVER booked two rooms in the first place and so he wasn't going to give us the King because it didn't exist! (Confused yet? So were we!)
I picked up the printouts and showed him in black and white where it said, "2 Rooms Booked" and the rate for each room, times two. Plus I pointed again at the confirmation number I had writted down for the rebooked King.
He glared at me and then the clerk showed him on the reservation list that we in fact had two rooms booked and they were ready for us to check-in.
The rooms were clean but TINY. The location is convenient, but the manager was so rude that I would never stay here again. After driving 11 hours and finding out we might not have a hotel room when I had valid reservations and printouts was unnerving to say the least. Anyone who has tried to book a room in San Luis Obispo area knows that hotels get filled fast and frequently and finding a last minute room is almost impossible.
