More of a family place than a romantic getaway, though see my tip below. Pros: New rooms with thoughtful appointments, like microwave and small fridge, and table. Central heating and air (I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand those ubiquitous noisy window units). Sleeping area is separate from sitting area and at rear of room. High quality furnishings. Good soundproofing from neighbors. Breakfast is very good with some items to order, and you can take it to your room with no problem. Customer service is absolutely first-rate. Front-desk staff were more than accommodating for us; extremely professional and as good as many city flagship hotels that we’ve stayed at. Cons: A little distant from the downtown area; can’t easily walk there though some people could do so in about 20 to 30 minutes. Just a mite pricey—rates could be about $30 less per night. Other than that, I can’t think of any. To summarize, this was a highly enjoyable and easy place to stay in SLO, and we will do so again. Tip: If you don’t need the pool at your door step, ask for rooms near the rear of the hotel. They seem a little more secluded and might offer slightly more romantic ambience. Some might even offer a little bit of a view of the rolling hills.
