Have a real good experience staying at Courtyard San Luis Obispo. Chris, the front desk manager is a very customer-service oriented guy. He's wonderful. Lots of familiies stayed there during our stay, mostly soccer families. They even have singing and dancing at night, which was really enjoyable and fun.

Our family has stayed at this property twice now, and each time found it to be an outstanding lodging experience.

Our first stay was to celebrate my husband and my anniversary, and upon check-in we were presented with a complimentary beverage voucher for the lounge. The clerk said it was 'to wish you a Happy Anniversary on behalf of Courtyard.' A thoughtful gesture that goes a long way with us and speaks of quality customer service. We were given a room in a more quiet and private portion of the hotel, and staff went out of their way to accommodate any travel-related questions such as directions, dining recommendations and other local entertainment options. From the desk staff to the cleaning staff, we enjoyed professional, courteous service above and beyond the call of duty.

Our second stay was with our teenaged children and again the hotel was clean, elegantly decorated and staff was cheerful and helpful. It's location is terrific - close to the beaches, the town proper and the university. It's easy to access via the freeway but set off enough that traffic sounds are never an issue.

The rooms are spacious and the beds heavenly and large. This has become our hotel of choice any and every time we visit the coast. Thanks again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Courtyard San Luis Obispo. Excellent location - just off the highway, close to the town center and the Mission of San Luis Obispo, and just about an hour's drive to Hearst Castle. Closer to vineyards and great restaurants. Rooms were clean and spacious, amenities were plentiful, and the pool and jacuzzi were fantastic after a long day of sightseeing.

My wife and I and our 15 year old daughter spent a night at the Courtyard in San Luis Obispo in the middle of August. We were very satisfied with the hotel. The room was big and we had two queen size beds with a nice sized bathroom. The hotel appeared to be newly renovated and the lobby was impressive.

The business section was a life saver. There were several computers. I needed to do some work and was able to use the printer and fax with no problems.

We requested and were given a room with a view of the mountains. Unlike some of the reviews below, we were not bothered by any noise or noisy air conditioners and did not notice a musty smell.

We got to the hotel late and ate a late dinner in the restaurant. The food was mediocre.

We stayed at this hotel in order to visit Hearst Castle, which was about 45 minutes away.

I have no problems recommending this hotel.

We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott for only one night during "Week of Welcome" for Cal Poly freshmen. I usually stay at the Embassy Suites, but it was fully booked because it was move-in weekend at the nearby Cal Poly University.

I was expecting a motel-type accommodation, but I was pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of the room we were given. It was even more spacious than the Sydney Harbor Marriott, which was a lot more expensive. I requested an outside-facing room after reading several reviews on the noise level of the pool area, and was given a room facing the hill. It was very quiet even though the hotel was fully-booked (because it was Cal Poly's move-in weekend). There were no obnoxious kids running around. The room had 2 queen-sized beds, coffee and a coffee maker, a plasma-screen TV, iron with ironing board, hair dryer, armoire, desk, chairs, and several lounging chairs. The bathroom amenities, however, were minimal: one small 1-oz container of shampoo, another 1-oz container of conditioner and 2 small bars of soap. This did not bother me, though.

The only negative was the heater/air conditioner, which was rather loud, and was one of those old-fashioned floor units jutting out from under the windows - but I got used to it after a while.

The Courtyard S.L.O. is one of the newest in San Luis Obispo. It has a fitness center and free internet access in the rooms (if you have your own laptop), and it has computers in the lobby with free internet access. The lobby also has coffee and ice water available 24 hours. When I checked it, there was a full tray of delicious cookies in the check-in counter, which I helped myself to. Newspapers are also available in the lobby every morning.

Breakfast does NOT come with the room rate. It costs $9.99 for a full breakfast and $7.99 for continental breakfast. Although it was not as good as a Hilton breakfast, it was adequate. The fresh fruit was delicious. However, the Embassy Suites omelettes were better.

I think I got better value at this Marriott than either the Embassy Suites or the Apple Farm hotels in San Luis Obispo because it costs much less. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

I already reviewed the Courtyard Marriott in SLO a year ago, but I just stayed there again last week and had to comment again that I adore this hotel. I think it is just beautiful, and awesome in every way. This time we stayed in a suite and it was so perfect since we have two kids. We could close the kids off in the bedroom and stay up late watching TV in the living room area, enjoying the wet bar. Nice. The suites are huge, and gorgeous like the rest of the hotel. Beds are so comfortable, and the amenities are so much better than anyone would expect. I will always stay here!

Someone else mentioned that if you get a room facing the pool area, it can be kind of loud. I do agree with this, but it wasn't terrible, and most people left before it was too late at night.

Despite it's location slightly off the beaten track, though very convenient to the freeway, would highly recommend the SLO Marriott. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious, clean. The sheets are soft, the beds and pillows comfy, the bathrooms have all the amenities anyone could ask for. Everything is modern and lovely, the staff accommodating, and the hotel lobby even has free computers for the use of the guests.
