“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

My kids loved the place, i did not . Why? It just seemed to old and too functional. No warmth to the place and very little service. Like being in a Holiday inn. Maybe i am just used to being in a B&B, but his place was not for me.
Cheap is what you get, and the bottom line is that i would have paid more for a little place with a bit of charm to it.

We stayed one night on our way back from SF to LA. It is in a good locatioin, but everything is old, but useful. You have to kick the door to open it, but it does have everything, in cluding refrigerator and free WiFi. The front desk man is smiless, but the lady is friendly. She helped us to open the door. The price doens't match my expectation.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a high end hotel by any stretch; but it is cheap, friendly, clean and in a convenient location in SLO. I have found that when you begin by being polite to the employees they usually reciprocate. We found the owners to be very friendly and accomodating allowing us to use the bbq in the pool area for a "mini" 21st birthday party provided we kept it clean. It is kind of noisy since it's right on the freeway but considering the price in comparison with other accomodations in the area, it was a minor inconvenience. The rooms were clean, updated & comfortable. Maybe there are some rooms that have not been renovated but our beds & pillows were very comfy. I like a room to have a fridge & microwave, enough garbage cans, blow dryer, magnifying mirror & full length mirror. The only thing lacking were the last two. For the price, deal with it. Go to Booking.com for a good price. We stayed 2 nights & could have stayed longer with no problem. Not fancy, but perfectly fine if you want to save money!

Do not waste your hard earned money here!! Absolutely horrible reception service by both a man & woman. No noise control, so I could hear everything my neighbors were doing and saying. Disgusting rooms.

If I could have paid $50 like another reviewer I would have given this place 2 stars. As it was they charged me $280 and it definitely is not worth any where near that. If no stars were allowed I would have rated it lower. The rooms are clean, but offer nothing after that. Cheap furniture (think Ikea on a tight budget)' small TV with poor picture, hard to access wifi, microwave perched precariously on top of mini-fridge, small bathroom with many stains ( did not use shower as it was so scary looking), lights didn't all work, right next to two all-night fast food restaurants on a busy street at the end of the freeway off ramp (heard cars noise and people talking out side window all night.) On the plus side, they have a key drop outside the office so you can drop the key off and leave real early in the morning (won't be able to sleep so might as well hit the road early.)

En route to lax had booked hotel 12 days in advance. Arrived at hotel at 8pm and rang bell for attention. A women came out looked at our reservation and informed us that she had called an hour ago and left a voice mail stating she had let our room go as she had received a better rate per night and cancelled our reservation. She then proceeded to inform us this is not my problem and was very rude and unhelpful. The overall appearance of the hotel was generally run down with peeling paint and directly on the highway.

my family booked rooms at this place to stay overnight after a wedding they were booked by my sister on her credit card with various names of family members for the rooms to get as they arrived, some paid cash others repaid my sister as to the amount of the room there were several rooms with moldy bath rooms an unsafe bathroom fixtures unfortunately we could not find another hotel in the area and the wedding was that evening and we all had to stay.. when we checked out the next day my sister received an alert on her phone that PRICE LINE had received a charge to her card for a no show but all rooms were paid for one by cash and that room was sent in by hotel management as a no show. my sister went back to the hotel to talk the the staff and was treated rudely. when staff was shown reviews of past double billing they signed a document stating that there was a mistake and would take back the charge, only to find out they did it again. beware of PRICE LINES booking this room for you this is a moldy and old hotel

Room Tip: no rooms are good
