Description: Welcome to Palazzo Giuseppe’s, downtown San Luis Obispo! Our Italian regional specialties are indicative to the Pugliese region in Italy, particularly Bari, a seaport on the Adriatic Sea from which most of our recipes originate. We hope you will enjoy and appreciate our great loyalty to the distinctive dishes, all of which we prepare with genuine and natural ingredients and methods. Our bread is baked from scratch every day in a wood-burning oven imported from Italy. Each loaf is made by hand, allowed to rise four times and slow-cooked to achieve the truly rustic appearance and taste you would find in a Baresi seaside village. DiFronzo is dedicated to producing & growing as many heirloom, organic vegetables, & fruits from his family farm as possible. Gelato, pizzas, & specialties including his estate grown Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, & Syrah. All of this takes time but to us it is an art and a labor of love. We are truly committed to bringing you "cucina genuina."

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The food is always good when we go to Palazzo Guiseppe, but we had an extra good experience there tonight. It was very busy so, rather than waiting for a dining room table, we decided to eat in the bar. We were fortunate to locate a cozy corner. Everyone in the bar was helpful and friendly, but I wanted to especially praise Stephanie. She waited on us and was especially friendly and helpful and genuine (with everyone, not just us). Her suggestion of the Groundwork Grenache was perfect. The lasagne was excellent, as was our usual Stagionale salad. An overall great experience at Palazzo Giuseppe in San Luis Obispo. Thanks, Stephanie!

“Perfect Italian Fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

My friend and I had dinner at Palazzo Guiseppe's after a show (Anna Karenina) at the Palm last evening. We ordered the Lamp Loli Pops and shared a Caesar salad. Both perfect. We especially liked the bed of eggplant, mushroom, white raisin, balsamic vinegar concoction served under the perfectly cooked lamb. The dish was ambrosia! Wine was excellent, one red and one white from local vintners. Caesar salad was their Italian twist and excellent. We were too full for dessert, instead retired to the bar where we had a lovely after dinner drink. Mine was a lemocello mixture that will be repeated as we definitely will go back. Perfect evening out in Downtown SLO.
We loved it.

“Overpriced, Slow Service, Attractive Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

This downtown San Luis Obispo Italian restaurant is very attractive, but noisy. Service is slow. The food is overpriced. Somehow it is very popular but we have not had a meal that was worth the money. They do have take-out and fabulous bread that they make. I think you get a better meal, much better environment, and better service at Gennaro's. And they have parking!

“Very close to perfect...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

The wait staff were excellent, and the evening was perfect (right before the Christmas parade). They really didn't need ALL of the heaters on outdoors, but they "look" inviting, so they turned them on.... TOO hot! The Brussels Sprouts salad was VERY good (could have used a few more greens, just for visual), and The Orange Ruffy (fish) dish on Risotto was very good. The bread appetizer with the oil-Parmesan-olive spread is fabulous. We shared all of this and were too full for dessert. The ambiance was very romantic. The music could have been a tad louder and more of an Italian mix though. Parking is pretty easy on the streets, but we used the Marsh St. parking structure about 3-blocks away to get in some "along the way" shopping and walking.

“Downtown San Luis Obispo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

San Luis Obispo is a nice walking town with great downtown renovations. Palazzo Giuseppe is in the middle of a new plaza surrounded by shops and other restaurants. Nice Italian faire; nice atmosphere; great bar for relaxing; great downtown location.
