“Charming inn with beautiful grounds.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013 via mobile

we love the apple farm. Quaint but expensive. They do have great sales every season so register your email address to get notices. We always have a wonderful time. The town has a great farmer's market on Thursday which makes for a nice evening.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and for your many stays with us over the years. We are so thrilled that we are your spot here in San Luis Obispo. Our local Farmers Market and downtown area is definitely fun to explore and we are located about 1 mile away which makes us a perfect home base. We certainly appreciate your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you for many more visits in the future!

We have been to this boutique hotel many times in the past, but not recently. We were told that they had renovated their rooms so we were intrigued and made a reservation. We do not normally critique hotels, however, we felt compelled in this case.

We booked a renovated room on Sunday night for a reduced rate, but still paid over $200, so our expectations were high. We entered into our renovated room and found the primary changes to the "country-themed" main building were a flat panel television, a travertine tile tub enclosure and new carpet.

The rooms are still outfitted in over the top country decor, the tub is so shallow that soaking is impossible, and the furniture was old and dated. Also, I am confused, they went to all the trouble to buy and install state-of-the-art flat panel televisions, but didn't spring for an HD cable feed. It was a weird experience looking at fuzzy fat people on a new 40" flat screen!

As to comfort, the mattress was lumpy and hard, there was a stale smell in the bathroom, one of our lamps was broken, and the old-timey motel style air conditioner could not adequately cool the room. It was hot as hell in that room that only my grandmother could love. Oh, I almost forgot...There is a fireplace in your room. Don't bother, if it is cool enough to need one, this one won't do the the job. They have the gas turned down to the point that you can barely see or feel the flame. No heat and No ambiance.

The next morning we went to the restaurant for breakfast, hoping to drown our sorrow at having spent a sleepless night on a lumpy bed in a sweaty tropical jungle. Our hopes were high, until we looked at the menu, $12 to $15 for a bacon and egg breakfast! This put a cap on it for us. This whole place is overpriced and underwhelming.

Do not waste your time and money here. They have not kept up with the times and market and their renovations are barely noticeable. It was very disappointing as they still have a nice Christmas ambiance, but their overall value is poor.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We certainly appreciate your many stays with us over the years. We are so sorry to hear that your visit did not exceed your expectations. When renovating our property, we have attempted to keep our country theme while modernizing some of our amenities. We do plan on upgrading our television service to HD in the next few months. Thank you for letting us know about the air conditioner unit in your room. We will be sure to have our maintenance team take a look at it right away. In the meantime, we do hope to hear from you personally so that we can address your concerns specifically. Thank you again for your feedback.

I was unsure what the accommodations would be like from previewing the rooms on the website. I've lived in SLO County for years and know the establishment has a good reputation, have dined at the restaurant and shopped in the gift shop, but have never been inside the Inn. All my worry was for naught, our room was lovely. The staff was extremely accommodating and the Inn was absolutely beautiful. No doubt I will stay again when we have a need to be in town for the evening. Certainly was beyond my expectations.

Room Tip: Stay in the Inn.

We got to the hotel and it was already all decorated up for Christmas on Nov 8th. Christmas was everywhere. I expected to see pumpkins turkeys and hay bales. They just skipped right over a really nice Fall holiday. Then to add to it, on Sat they had a Christmas extravaganza going on all day, and guests couldn't even park in the lot. Not good!!!!
We had a nice enough room, but they usually have robes in the room and they weren't there, had to ask. The TV was so old and small, not a flat screen. Bed was a little hard. Someone had their bathroom fan running all night so didn't sleep well.
Overall still a nice place to stay, workers are super nice and the wine tastings in the late afternoon is very nice. Christmas before Thanksgiving not nice.

Room Tip: Choose a newer room with a flat screen TV. as the smaller old ones don't work too well. A cree...

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your recent stay with us. We appreciate your feedback on our holiday open house. Each year we kick off our holiday season with this fun event for our guests and local community. We love Thanksgiving as well, but our holiday decorations are so over the top that our guests ask for them to be up for longer than just the month of December so they can have time to shop and enjoy them. We do keep our restaurant in a more fall themed decor until after Thanksgiving so our guests can enjoy this as well. We are sorry to hear that you weren't able to find parking. Next year for this event, we will be roping off a special portion of our parking lot for Inn guests. Thank you for letting us know about the bathroom fan. We will work to get it fixed right away. We are in the process of adding flat screen televisions to our rooms right now. We have completed this in many rooms and we hope to finish this in 2014. Once again, we do sincerely appreciate your feedback. We certainly hope to welcome you for another stay soon.

Although I was a little hesitant to stay at an inn, I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed my visit! The rooms are not large, but they are not tiny either. They had a more cozy feel to them. What made this place more special was the "homey" feel. The beds were comfortable, there was a fireplace, a free wooden apple souvenir, and even a little basket filled with Hershey's kisses and apple cider bottles. I would also recommend the restaurant across the parking lot. With great food, an excellent view, and a two story gift shop, this place was fantastic. Already stayed twice!

Room Tip: This hotel is perfect if you are picking up a relative from Cal Poly.

Our family looks forward to Apple Farm's annual Christmas open house. We love the gorgeous gardens, immaculate rooms, beautiful holiday decorations, and of course, the warm and friendly staff. The restaurant and gift shop are wonderful and quaint. My husband and I wouldn't miss the Christmas holidays without enjoying Apple Farm's hospitality. The staff even remembered my mother's 90th birthday with some special treats. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!! We look forward to our next visit and every Thanksgiving & Christmas holiday!

Room Tip: We stay at the main inn. Rooms are well worth the additional cost.

Our 1 night stop over welcome was excellent. Friendly staff offering a complimentary glass of wine, including freely available tea/coffee cookies. We suppose someone has to stay in the Trellis part of this attractive motel, our small room was only one removed from the busy road, which wasn't too bad, however we'd have preferred the main building, but the hotel was full. Because we were only in for 1 night, this was acceptable. The restaurant food and service were reasonably good but to have milk for our coffee supplied in a glass because there was no jug, at breakfast, and being stuck in their unattractive bit of the quiet dining area for dinner & breakfast, irked a little. Breakfast food quality was poor. When checking out no one asked how we enjoyed our stay, which we'd regard as obligatory. Make no mistake, this is a pretty motel with clean rooms which have tea/coffee facilities and a quaint touch of a fire in the room. We were just spoilt by previous and subsequent accommodation in our Californian fly drive and expected a higher standard.
