Last summer a friend and I decided to take the Ortega Highway to San Juan Capistrano from the Riverside area. It was a route we used to frequent in the 60's when we were college students. After an interesting drive, lots of curves and dips, we found ourselves in SJC. What a change from 50 years ago. No longer was it that quaint little town, but fast food and gas stations. We drove around, and discovered Ricardo's Mexican Restaurant. It is a clean and friendly place. We tried the carnitas plate, which was plentiful and delicious. We knew we'd be back.
On a subsequent trip with my sister, she took me over to the Los Rios Tea House for dessert, located by the Amtrak Station. I had the good luck to order a piece of coconut cake and coffee, which I still dream about today. Very, very delicious. And I will be back!
