“Must have had a bad day”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We had lunch at L'Hirondelle before touring Mission San Jaun Capistrano. My wife had the duck breast salad that she had a hard time cutting with a steak knife. Toughest piece of meat we have seen (must have died from old age). I had Kobe hamburger salad (trying to be half heathy) which was overcooked and therefore a waste of good meat.

On the positive side the patio is very nice and the iced tea was perfect.

“Enchanting treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review of one of my favorite haunts in nearby San Juan Capistrano. Directly across from the Mission you can hear the church bells ring while enjoying some of the best French inspired food I've partaken in here in So California but the biggest surprise is a hamburger, no not just ANY superb but one the French would be proud to claim as their's - if you like hamburgers - YOU WILL LOVE this Kobe beef mouthwatering, simply delectable sampling of absolute delight! If you're ever in the area the is a MUST vist you can't afford to miss out on. Just superb!

“Great spot for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

After touring the mission and taking a walking tour of historic San Juan Capistrano, I stopped at L 'Hirondelle for lunch. It was a nice afternoon, so I sat on the patio. The restaurant is peaceful and away from the normal flow of tourists. In fact, I struck up a conversation with a couple of locals at the next table and they wondered how I'd found the place. (Thank you, Trip Advisor!)

I enjoyed a 1/2 bottle of Chardonnay and the salad special of the day - the Nicoise ........ followed by an espresso.

Service was great - and the value for the meal was good.

I'd like to go back for dinner - or even another lunch on the tranquil patio again.
