“Truly basic accommodations”

I stayed at this Marriott brand property at least 10
Times during an 18 month period. It has one positive attribute--it's location close to the San Jose Airport. The property is old and tired looking,
And the rooms, although clean, have careworn furnishings which badly need updating. Please don't stay here unless you have no other choice...

It is difficult to find anything to complain about this hotel and everything to compliment, except for the taxi service they called for us.
Reception was pleasant and helpful. We asked if they could take us to Adobe, which is downtown and 3.2 miles away. They said they could only go 2 miles, but would call us a cab.
I don't know where to complain about a cab, so I will do it here. They called Rainbow Cab. The driver Sharon (a guy), arrived early and we could see his clock ticking. We had asked to be picked up at 6 PM, but obviously we were on his clock (not a usual meter) when we got in the cab, because it said 7 minutes. He took us to the Adobe Center in downtown San Jose. We asked what the fare was- he said $16 (for 3.2 miles- which according to the SJ posted rates, should have been $13-14). We gave it to him reluctantly and took his card to call to come back to the hotel. We should have searched out another number to call on return. On returning, he had no meter or timer running and asked what we had paid the other way- $16. We gave it to him with no tip. DO NOT TAKE A CAB in San Jose to downtown from this hotel, at least not from Rainbow cab.
Our room was lovely, overlooking the pool. The bed was comfortable, and there were two sinks in the bathroom. Internet was free- thanks.
It was an award room, so the price was right .
Breakfast had a large choice of foods, including hot entrees. The pleasant lady minding the breakfast came and picked up our plates and asked if she could get us more coffee or anything else- never has happened at a serve yourself breakfast
All in all, we were impressed,

Room Tip: Overlook the pool

Hotel shuttle picked me up within minutes of calling. Hotel is a few minutes away just the right distance so you don't hear flights taking off and landing. In the parking lot is a Starbucks and Chipotle restaurant. Nice looking property with clean rooms and comfortable bed. Staff was helpful and polite. The free breakfast was a nice variety of hot and cold items. The only reason I didn't stay on my return to the airport at the end of the week was the price was more than double on Sunday.

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor room.

Stayed here on a business trip. Was pleasantly surprised. Hotel has been renovated in recent past but uncertain when, so everything is fairly modern and clean.

Rooms are spacious (almost too much so -some large empty space that an interior decorator would have a cow over) with high ceilings.

There is a breakfast center that provides assortment of continental and hot foods, including fresh fruit and waffles that you make yourself fresh.

The service from shuttle pick up at airport, front desk, breakfast staff is very professional and courteous. Even passing the housekeepers on way out would be greeted with a hello/hola.

If you're worried about traffic noise given proximity to highway, no worries. Building and windows are constructed well to insulate against the noise and traffic is almost non-existent in middle of night anyway.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites San Jose Airport is a nice hotel, with one of the nicest and largest outdoor pools I have seen in ages.

And while there are fancier and newer hotels in the area, you really can't do any better if you are looking for affordable lodging near the airport, especially if you are traveling with kids. If so, be sure to request a ground floor room with a patio door leading out to the pool and lawn.

If not, request a top floor room, to cut down on noise from above.

Room Tip: Request if top floor room if looking for a quiet room, or the ground floor with a patio door to the...

The staff here are some of the nicest staff around. I am a platinum member and a hotel snob, but I choose to stay here over much "classy" name brand hotels.

I travel to San Jose very often and have stayed at the all the local Marriott and Hilton hotels. I prefer this hotel because its clean, close to the airport, it has an amazing comfy bed and the staff are amazing friendly.

The shuttle drivers are so friendly and always in time. Its way more convenient then renting a car or getting a taxi. They also offer rides within 5 miles, which includes a whole lot of stores and restaurants.

The front desk employees are extremely friendly and do not seem to have the turnover other hotels have. They always recognize me, sometimes by my voice over the phone.

The hotel is newly remodeled, ie they finished renovations last month. Everything is bright and clean. The bed is amazing. There are several restaurants including a Starbucks that is directly in front of the hotel. Also the buffet breakfast is quite nice.

Suggestion if you are like me and want complete quite, ask for a room not above the pool. I had a pool facing room once and thought it was loud.

This is by far our families favorite hotel. The room, though not spacious, was clean, functional, and serviced nicely. Although we did not use the internet, it was a great addition to the room. All the items at breakfast were fresh. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The pool hadn't been cleaned when we got in, but it was cleaned the next day.
