“For the business traveller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2010

Had a good stay here - and only reason I would stay here is if you need to be in this location. It is in a corporate/industrial area - so good if you are working in the area or need to be near the airport. Good clean, comfortable rooms - and very good staff. No restaurant though - but a few decent place just a short walk away.

Stayed for 2 nights and was part of a large group attending a family funeral. Our large group used the comfortable chairs in the lobby/lounge area for hours of visiting on Saturday evening, and felt right at home. The staff was efficient and friendly, and we encountered no problems. The hotel is very clean and apparently is entirely nonsmoking, which is very nice. We all enjoyed the breakfast buffet on Sunday morning, which was far better than trying find a restaurant as comfortable, quiet, and accommodating for our large group. The food was very good too. We sat at our tables and visited with family members for a couple hours since no one needed to be seated after us. The staff continued to be very pleasant and served us coffee and juice. Check in and check out were painless. After driving the 250 miles home, we realized several items were left behind in our room! When I called and asked who I should talk to about our forgotten items, the person on the phone immediately knew who I was and our room number! She only needed my authorization to ship our items and confirmation of the address, and now our belongings are on their way home to us. That is top-notch service. My only tiny criticism is the layout of the bathroom and sink area is a little awkward; but the water pressure was super, we were provided with a generous number of towels, and the room temperature was perfect. Our room was on the 1st floor, facing the airport and freeway, and the traffic and airport sounds did not disturb us. This was one of our most pleasant stays in a hotel and I would highly recommend it.

We were welcomed by a front desk clerk who decided to make it very difficult for us, and got angry in the process. This ruined the rest of our stay. On the good side, bed was comfortable. Very loud party in the hall late at night also made sleeping difficult. I would stay elsewhere next time.

We booked this hotel because we wanted to leave the car for the week and being located by the airport we thought that a Marriott hotel would be a pretty nice option.
The outside is very nice, but once we got inside, it felt like a cheap dorm. The room was very simple, with this old run down feeling. I went to the front desk to ask for a morning shuttle, to our surprise the week-end shuttle is starting much later than the weekly one. We were surprised because we explicitly asked the hotel for the shuttle service before we booked the room...
We then asked for a crib for our 1.5 year old son. Service was fast and we got it within 10 minutes. I open it and set it up. I see something crawling out of the crib, realizing that it was a huge cockroach, a good 2 inches long creature!!! I chased it and finally killed it. Called the front desk, they send someone that took it away. End of the story!!!

We booked this hotel on two successive Saturday nights mainly because of a great rate special offered by Marriott and its advertised 24 hour shuttle to nearby San Jose airport. They delivered on convenience for our 10 pm arrival and 6 am departure. They also provided transportation from our rental car drop off the night before our departure. Rooms and property were clean and pleasant. Located in business park atmosphere which was very quiet on a Saturday evening. The downside was that most of the walkable food venues were closed Saturday evening b/c their main clientele was business lunchers and after work socials. The first Saturday stay was extremely peaceful and good for sleeping in on our first day of vacation after a late arrival. Apparently the great weekend promotional rate attracted a few party animals to our floor the next Saturday. About a dozen of these happy creatures were boisterously headed out for a night on the town about the time of our 9 pm check in. They returned around 2 am with much fanfare, hallway drama and ruckus in nearby rooms. They finally settled down right before our 4 am wake up call to catch the early van shuttle to the airport. I secretly hoped my early shower would wake them, but I doubt it, as plumbing was very quiet and rooms sound insulated. Also one of the two computers/printers in the lobby available for guests was out of order and I had a bit of a hassle printing off boarding passes. Desk staff was helpful on this. Again the shuttle service made these inconveniences tolerable. I am guessing the glitches were an anomaly, and can recommend the Courtyard as a good choice less than a mile from the airport, especially with a great weekend rate.

My daughter and I were looking at schools in this area and decided to stay at the Courtyard. It is fine for this type of stay. We visited Santa Clara University and Stanford. University of San Francisco is very close too. Be advised there is no place around thehotel to get breakfast. The hotel had a breakfast at $15 per person and we do not eat much in the morning. There were no coffee shops and we ended up going to Santa Clara to a bagel shop across from the campus. Even the GPS system in the car could not find a place. The hotel is very convenient to the airport.
