“top of the line food, service, ambiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

Wonderful for a celebration dinner. Outstanding food, top-notch service, quiet, upscale ambiance. Service was always available, timely, and perfect without hovering or interrrupting conversations to ask "how's everything?"
Never felt rushed, food was presented to match our pace.
Highly recommend.

“Good steakhouse - sub-par staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011

Took clients before concert (not many choices for higher-end restaurants in SJ). Food was good quality, portion sizes were huge (split salad, potato and veggie orders and still had food left over). Nice wine list. Only rub was the staff who were more similar to what youd expect at a Denny's or IHOP. We had a grossly obese waitress whose uniform was unkempt and viewed her customers as in the way of her collecting her pay check. Everything she said to us was delivered in at rapid rote speeds devoid of any desire to please her charges. Drained the joy from the dinner. Bill was very high but expected for Silicon Valley.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

That is pretty much it. Reasonable food, good service, but not worth $100 per head for one course. Tries to sell a premium product based on nothing more than the idea that telling you it's good and that showing it to you uncooked is enough to convince you that it is worth parting with quite enormous amounts of cash. To be fair, the waiters work extremely hard and the service was very good, but to pay $100 dollars for what amounted to well cooked, reasonable quality, steak and fries does not seem worth it. If you go for 3 courses and wine I would expect to pay at least $120-$150 a head. Too much.

“Really enjoyed Morton's in San Jose”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2010

We researched options for steakhouse dining in downtown San Jose and chose Morton's, and we made the right choice. We selected this restaurant for location, menu selection and ambiance. We were not disappointed.

The location was very convenient, parking options included $6.00 valet or public parking in the adjacent garage for $7.00. The restaurant opens into a plaza that happened to have one of the "Play Me I'm Yours" pianos. Couldn't resist banging out a few tunes!

Once in the restaurant, the service, selection and food were completely enjoyable and met our expectations. This is a typical steakhouse, for our dinner we chose the bone-in ribeye and bone-in filet. These came with the usual selection of sides; we love loved the oysters rockefeller appetizers and lobster bisque.

The steaks came medium rare as ordered and were huge, tender and flavorful. I must say while the bone-in filet was great, I've had better at Bobo's in San Francisco. Still, it was a delight and well worth eating!

For sides we had the mushrooms, baked potato and broccoli, all fine but the steaks were the well-deserved centerpiece of the meal and well enjoyed them immensely.

Waitstaff were attentive and engaged at Morton's, we truly felt welcomed here.

“Good food but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

One of the best steak I've ever tasted with good service. Reasonable atmosphere though a little crowded when I was there. My only complain is it's really expensive.
