“Pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Just happened to be driving nearby and decided to stop. It was a nice museum and fairly large. They had an IMAX theater too which might have been nice to go to, but we did not have the time.

“disappointing aftercare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

We spent half a day at the museum and saw some interesting high-tech stuff. It was a lovely spacious building and the exhibits were laid out well. However there weren't enough hands-on things to do for the number of visitors and so my kids ended up queueing up or getting bored. It's true that it was a busy day and they could have read the displays like I did but most kids want to use the stuff without having to wait.
One of the cleverest ideas there was the Tech Tag - your ticket's bar code could be scanned at many exhibits so that you could view your results and information after the visit on the web. Some of the experiments took overnight to complete making this essential unless you planned to return the next day.
Great idea - but the online log-in process didn't work for us at all despite many attempts over a couple of weeks. Somehow we were stuck in a loop where one screen said that the password for the account was wrong, while on trying to reset the password another screen said that the account did not exist. Repeated emails to the help and sales desks failed to bring success. There may be some irony in a software failure at the San Jose Tech Museum but my kids aren't laughing about it.

“Fun for kids & people who appreciate innovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Although some of the exhibits may seem childish, the museum has a variety of exhibits. The kids will love all the hands-on activities, but you have to wait on others on busy days. Loved the exhibits about public health/sustainability inventions used in different parts of the world. The genetics lab was closed for the day but it looked fun & it's great that kids are able to be involved. Be sure to scan your ticket at the exhibits to have a "souvenir" to view online when you get home.

“I like it, my kids like it, my wife...not so much.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

The Tech Museum is a fun place to spend some active time with the family. There are LOTS of hands-on exhibits, demonstrating technology and science. The kids all love the earthquake platform and much, much more. My wife gets a little bored with it all, but I'm just like one of the kids. So, what's new. I recommend it.

“For the young kids.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Nothing really for the adults to do, mainly a place for kids to play. Unless you have little one, there is very little of interest here. But the employees were friendly!
