“Awesome Ocean Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

I always make it a point to eat at Fisherman's whenever I am in the area. This restaurant is located over the beach as you walk onto the San Clemente pier. In fact, the wave travel under the restaurant, especially during high tide. Parking on a nice weekend day can be a challenge. There's a public lot just up the street.

There are actually two separate aspects to this resturant, as you walk onto the pier, the bar is on the right and the dining room is on the left. You can still order food at the bar. At the resturant they start you off with sour dough bread....OMG....awesome!!!

I had the Fish Tacos ($9.95) which consisted of grilled Mahi. Adding cheese sets you back another (0,75), avocado a buck. They offer a side salad with it which was a bit on the watery side. The Mahi was cooked to perfection, flavorful, juicy and tender.

My companion had the Salmon & Chips....she was not too impressed with the fried salmon; however, overall she said it was good. I tried a bite and the salmon was moist and flaky. It was served with slaw and potato wedges. The slaw was mushy and not too good.

Tables are packed together closely to the point there is very little maneuverability, thus it is not good for romance or special occasions. Very limited outdoor seating, even less inside.

“Great food, great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

We almost always have lunch here on our trips to San Clemente. They serve fresh fish and other seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Folks in our party had salmon tacos, fish and chips, broiled halibut, and salmon and chips, all of which were excellent. Their sourdough bread is yummy. Everything is fresh, hot, and good quality. And it is so lovely to sit on the pier and enjoy the sea air! All the fish is especially good and there are a few offerings for those who don't eat fish. The mud pie dessert is enough for the whole table.

“Excellent fish marred by bird doo!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

The sea bass and the mahi mahi were cooked very well and the accompanying veggies all lovely. We were at table set back from the rail by the ocean, below the roofed area with awning that is frequented by sea birds and pigeons. Just at the end of the meal the breeze dislodged a sizeable pellet of dried doo that spewed over most of our table. Our server claimed the awning was cleaned regularly - so this isn't a one off. Perhaps the company is aware of the dangers of Nile Virus or the scores of other diseases carried in bird droppings. So food is excellent, but the bird doo topping is rather unhealthy. Therefore get a table inside or on the rail!

“Location, location, location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

You can't beat the location; however, the food isn't anything to rave about unless you go for the M-F $3.00 dinner. This is an exceptional value - dinner is $3 with the purchase of a drink (yes, it can be ice tea). Their $3.00 dinners are simple but GREAT. Every night is different - ribs, chicken, peppers and sausages, steak tacos....... skip the restaurant side.

“One of the best beach restaurants in Southern California”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

My husband and I have been coming here for years. This is one of the nicest and certainly most affordable restaurants for view and ambience in Southern California. The food is delicious but the atmosphere is amazing. Put your name in for dinner, then go to the oyster bar and have a cocktail where the waves are crashing at your feet. Best sunsets this side of Hawaii. The 4-7 happy hour Mon-Fri is a whole meal! Seriously, a must-see for anyone traveling to San Clemente or Dana Point.
