“Excellent, Super Clean and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

Stayed 1 night before flying out 10 minutes away from rental car returns. Room was super clean, upscale crown molding and a very nice Hot tub room. Hotel was quite when we stayed felt like the hotel was all ours. Staff was super friendly nice breakfast in the morning and very inexpensive room rates for all the Luxury you get..Stay there I would again in a heartbeat..

Last week we stayed at this hotel & have ABSOLUTELY nothing negative to say about this hotel. We stayed here in part due to other reviews on TripAdvisor. If we could give this hotel more than 5 stars, we would, especially in light of the fact that this hotel is a part of the Choice Hotels (not to say Choice Hotels are bad, but they do not typically compare to other brand hotels); this one is however up there with other name branded hotels.

We chose this hotel to save some money & parking fees of downtown San Francisco hotels. We do not mind walking nor taking public transportation, so this was an excellent choice for us. We easily walked to the train station to commute in to San Fran, which was a quick commute by train. Parking at the hotel is free & we were free from needing to navigate San Fran traffic & parking in the city.

The hotel staff were all extremely friendly, professional & helpful. They greeted us with smiles every time we walked through the lobby. Warm cookies & complimentary wine each evening were a treat. For breakfast, the hotel uses real silverware, plates & glasses; no paper or styrofoam - nice touch!

This hotel also has a nice, larger hot tub that boasts a wall of flowing water & birds chirping softly in the background - nice ambiance. There is also a sauna in the hot tub area. The guest rooms are modern & tastefully decorated. The beds were very comfortable & linens were impressive. We asked, the hotel is about 3 1/2 years old.

If we ever travel back to San Fran, we would absolutely stay here again, in a heartbeat! We now will look for hotels of the Ascend Collection when we travel to other cities!

Best stay during our San Fran trip!

Room Tip: We chose a room away from the street as recommended by others on TripAdvisor. I am not sure if a st...

San Bruno is not exactly Disneyland, well, ok, it is like Anaheim... so my expectations were fairly low, but I was pleasantly surprised. Whether it was the cheesy French music playing in the common areas, the little tea area in my room or being offered a glass of wine by the front desk staff while I waited in the lobby for a lunch meeting... I'm not sure, but I just loved it.

There is a desk with internet computer and printer in each floor's hallway, free parking, nice lobby meeting area and it is convenient to SFO. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful/friendly, rooms were clean, modern, well-appointed and quaint and my overall stay was quite nice. Be warned, the hotel is setback maybe 10 feet from El Camino Real so the rooms in front are pretty noisy (in back you can hear flights departing SFO occasionally, but not as bad).

Room Tip: Get a room in back as it will be much quieter than the ones in front on El Camino Real.

This hotel is a bit of a diamond in the rough. Don't be put off by the location, especially if you want to be close to the airport. This hotel is nicely decorated, has a wonderful hot tub and sauna that is completely unexpected. The fitness center is well appointed, rooms well decorated, it's quiet (well get a room away from the street) and the people very helpful.

Not a lot in the neighborhood but within easy walking distance is a couple of gas stations, a Chilli's, a Wendy's and next door is an IHOP. So you wont starve.

The hotel was just starting to build a restaurant so if you stay this March (2012) there may be some construction noise during the day.

My only minor complaint was the beds are soft and the free breakfast just basic stuff but there is IHOP next door if you want more choice.

Highly recommend giving it a try and take your bathing gear for the hot tub.
They provide free taxi service to and from the airport.

Room Tip: Front room can get street traffic noise. Check it out first.

When choosing a hotel near an airport in (insert name of city here) it is usually a crapshoot between your chain 2 star hotels/motels. You know the ones. This is the exception. The Villa Montes is a great property conveniently situated close to SFO with free parking, free wifi, friendly, attentive staff, nicely appointed clean rooms, and comfy beds with high thread count linens. What else could you ask for? We had a room that faced the street and were not disturbed by street noise at all. Little touches like the non-standard light fixtures and cool downtempo music playing in the lobby and hallways creates a restful and inviting mood. All this for a very reasonable price. Well done Villa Montes!

Room was small but tastefully appointed with a comfortable bed and an attractive bathroom. Basic fitness center got the job done. Adequate complimentary breakfast. Nice staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the street.

I booked this room with my Choice Rewards points and overall its a nice hotel. The location has a little to be desired if you are just passing through the San Francisco area though.

The hotel is on a very busy street, so if you do stay here, I highly recommend asking for a room facing the back of the building, otherwise you may have trouble sleeping with the street traffic. The standard room is incredibly small. Just enough room for a king bed and nothing else. If you have a lot of luggage, this room really isn't functional. I would recommend getting a suite if you can. There is free wifi, but at peak times the connection is quite slow. However there are free computers to use on each floor, and I found those much better speed wise. The underground parking is quite cramped, so if you have a larger vehicle it will be tough parking under there.

The hotels overall look and feel is very nice. The morning breakfast was great and there are a lot of little freebies such as cookies and coffee.

If you are here for one night its fine, but I wouldn't recommend a long term stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the backside of the building
