“exceeded expectations!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

We stayed here enroute from Disneyland to the Grand Canyon and really had a great experience. The motel is well located for this journey as it allows you get get a head start on the traffic. The downside is that the highway here is pretty busy with trucks all night, so luckily the noisy old box airconditioner drowns all that out!
The rooms are modestly sized, but quite comfortable. The bathrooms look like originals and are nicely done with a touch of art deco about them. The great thing is taht you can park right next to your wigwam and load stuff in and out easily.
The property is nicely maintained and the pool is small but good. There is a nice grassy area near the pool to have a bbq or just sit and admire the bizzare wigwam shapes of the motel.
There isnt a restaurant but the motel owners directed us to a great diner about a mile away. In the morning they put on free coffee and had a selection of museli bars for the trip. They also have a small gift shop of Route 66 memorabilia.
Our 2 kids found this place to be a blast and so did we. It wasnt expensive but it was fun. The area its located in is a bit run down, but not as bad as I was led to believe.

We stayed two nights at the wigwam motel and loved it.

The rooms (wigwams!) are unique, iconic and the entire place is a must see for anyone doing Route 66 and at fantastic value. The rooms were comfortable and fun to stay in, its clear a lot of hard work goes into making the place as brilliant as it is. The pool is small but perfect...for the first time in nearly three weeks we were able to relax and we're so glad we chose the wigwam motel.

Kumar (the owner) is brilliant, such a cool dude who loved chatting to and he even helped us to get the Harley started after the battery went flat! Obviously doing a bike tour of the USA the bike was kind of critical so we can't thank him enough!

We will never forget our time here :)

We really enjoy our staying in this special motel. Rooms are clean, you can choose small or bigger (for small fee). We were satisfied with the small ones (for 2 persons). You have a bathroom in the room. Manager is a very nice guy. Our husbands liked the pool=o)

I wanted to stay in a teepee on a road trip. we were at Disney and headed to the national parks. this motel was convenient. the staff are super nice and responsive. the rooms are cute and roomier than they look from the outside

I wouldn't make this a destination. if it fits your route do it. there is not much else around. we were able to grab breakfast before heading to the parks a couple of hours drive away.

standard cable, good bathroom, cute shower

Our group of 4 adults traveling the old Rt 66 from Chicago to LA booked the Wigwam Hotel for the ultimate Rt 66 experience. The are surrounding the hotel is a little sketchy, as previous reviews have also noted. But the wigwam was very clean inside. We have 2 double beds, a flat screen TV, a small table with 2 chairs and a couple of nightstands. there are no outlets in the bathroom so drying your hair or shaving with an electric razor is tricky. The bathroom is dated with an old style sink and shower stall but again very clean. The owner let us stay in the pool well after its closing time. It was cool staying here just for the authentic feel of the journey. I would recommend staying here but only for an overnight.

Stayed here a couple of nights ago. Always wanted to stay in one of the Wigwam Motels, but this was the first time I had the chance. We stayed while following Route 66 from Albuquerque to Santa Monica. When we arrived, there were other 66 travelers, including a father and son who we had talked to at Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner in Kingman.

The Wigwam has been nicely renovated. The rooms are quite comfortable and very clean. There is a sofa and coffee table, refrigerator, and flat screen TV. The only odd thing was that the bed was quite high, but it was a nice comfortable bed.

There is a small gift shop in the office with some nice Route 66 souvenirs. The staff were very, very nice.

If you are traveling Route 66, then this is a must stop as a place to stay. While many of the historic 66 motels show the ravages of time, the Wigwam is now probably cleaner and more comfortable than it ever was in its heyday.

One caution is that the area in which the hotel is located is probably not the best location in town. We walked around a bit to find a place to buy some beer, and while I don't think it is a particularly dangerous neighborhood, it is not somewhere that I would spend a lot of time. The motel is nicely fenced and quite safe.
