“Passive-Aggressive Manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

AAA mistakenly booked me here, where they have a 48h advance notice requirement for cancellation. AAA tried to get the manager to cancel, but rather than answering they simply kept avoiding their calls. Sneaky! The outdoor pool is tiny compared to other "plus" locations.

We've stayed in many, many hotels around this country however, this hotel had to be the quietest of all. We stayed in a 3rd floor room (they have an elevator) and we requested away from the ice machine. It was absoluetly the quietest hotel ever!

The comfort of the bed was also superior. I rate this hotel a five just simply due to the quality of the sleep.

Cynthia, the front desk person that checked us in was so helpful, friendly and genuine.....she's an asset to this hotel.

There's an intesting diner just 50 yds. up the street that has the best mushroom burger I've ever had! Fresh mushrooms, not canned. Pricey, but very, very good.

Room Tip: 3rd floor (they have an elevator) away from the ice machine.

This hotel was comfortable, quiet, and accommodating. My mother is disabled, and as such, we needed an accessible room for her and my father. My boyfriend and I arrived a day early to check things out, When we first got there, we noticed there were some issues with the bathroom, mainly that no one had used it in so long, it needed a good cleaning to get the dust off. I told the hotel staff. They immediately scrubbed down the whole bathroom, including the grout in the tiles, and made sure the shower seat was scrubbed super clean. It was taken care of in about an hour.My parents were both happy with their stay, and were pleased with the accessibility. My boyfriend and I stayed in a non accessible adjoining room, and it was very clean from the moment we walked in. The bed was comfortable, and they served us nice breakfast in the morning. It is also a completely non-smoking hotel, which is a feature that is a must for me. Overall, I was very please with the comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness of the staff. I would stay there again, and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: If you are asking for an accessible room, call the day before to make sure it is scrubbed clean. Mai...

Have found the Best Western Plus hotels to be a little more comfortable than regular Best Westerns. The hotel lobby was large and clean although there was a hallway just off the lobby packed with painting equipment. Stayed two nights. Reserved rooms on-line which is easy. Check in was fine, desk staff was friendly. They had rooms available on several floors and asked us our perference which was nice. The room was very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The bathroom was bigger than most and the shower was nice and the water warm. The breakfast was your basic continental, with eggs & bacon in a warmer. Apples were firm but didn't look fresh and shiny. Couple of suggestions - they need a writing pad and pen near the phone in the room, that's a pretty standard thing in most hotels. Also, when I checked out, the young woman at the desk made me stand there and wait while she gave the cleaning staff the rooms that needed cleaning. Its generally a better practice to take care of the customer first before their staff! Overall, was pleased with the quality of this hotel.

Owners kind of "harried" but, the balance of the staff was very good. Rooms clean with a good bed. Breakfast was good and plentiful. $8.00 cab ride from train station. Near Steinbeck museum.
"fine" dining not near hotel.

- key didn't work, so I had to go back to get them redone

- room reserved was unacceptable. Walked in, it smelled of smoke of an illegal nature. Complained to front desk. The nice lady showed up with a can of Lysol, which is not a solution to the problem, since I'm allergic to a great many things, smoke included. Asthma does not care whether you sprayed it with Lysol or anything else perfumy. Asked to be moved.

- moved to a new room. They didn't have the same room class available (jacuzzi / fireplace suite - this hotel only has two), so we settled for a room with no jacuzzi or fireplace. It was fine, as we'd run out of time to use it, anyway. Room did, however, wind up being next to an exit door, on a stairway, with the pool outside the window. Thankfully, not a great deal of noise from any of those. Noise from housekeeping beating down doors to clean, but they didn't come to our room. Weird.

- odd wiring. I get trying to be green, and save on the electricity, but when that extends to the electrical plugs in the wall, it's a bit weird. Picture trying to charge your phone, or use your laptop, and having to go slap a button on the wall every 30 minutes or so. Overkill. Likewise the motion sensitive lights in the bathroom that you can't turn off once they're on. They're wired with the fan, so it makes this din you can't kill. 8/

- breakfast bar was decent. They even had hot food - eggs, bacon, etc. Quite nice for the price of the room.

Final check out was good, but funny when they had to ask why we'd moved rooms. There should have been a note in the computer for the check out crew as to why we were now a less expensive room.

Bottom line - clean, decently maintained, a little odd, and housekeeping needs to report the smoke odors and actually clean them, not just spray perfume and hope that deals with it.

The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good. The front desk gal was great. Even though check out was 11:00 a.m. she let us come back to the room late to change. Check in went well. Nice restraunt nearby. Overall, a good stay.
