My wife and I were tourists from Australia. We stayed at the Travelodge six nights and enjoyed it. We used the motel as a base to visit Steinbeck Centre and Steinbeck House in Salinas.
We used the public bus service to travel to Monterey for $5 return (and on to Big Sur for a bit more) and got to see the surrounding lettuce fields and seaside suburbs
The staff were friendly & helpful.
A sensible breakfast was included in the very reasonable tariff
They even had a waffle-machine to make your own 'brekky' waffle
