“Huge property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

The grounds are large - depending on where your cottage is, it'll be a bit of a walk to the front desk and restaurant. Mine was near the entrance, so i was as far as you can get from the front desk while still being on the property. They give you a map, but if you are directionally-challenged like I am, you may get confused if you get off the road and use the walking paths. Also, there's not much lighting, so at night, stick to the road and watch out! There are pools and tennis courts but did not get a chance to use them.

Service was excellent, as you would expect - I love how they collected my name at the front gate, and then welcomed me by name when i pulled into the registration area parking lot.

Food was awesome - from the cookies, crackers, lemonade, and wine in the lobby to all the food and drink that was served. The Illy coffee machine in the room was the icing on the cake. I was at Meadowood for a corporate function so i never made it to the Restaurant proper, but the breakfast, and multi-course lunch and dinner were delicious, presented well, and service was excellent.

Rooms are cottages - as others have noted, the paths to some of the more remote cottages can be tricky: lots of small rocks and pebbles on a slope = ball bearings, so if you're not careful walking, you can definitely slip. If you look closely at the vaulted ceilings, you'll see worn areas and spider webs - i guess this is to be expected since the property and grounds are rustic with plenty of trees (and meadows!).

From the moment you arrive on the fabulous property to the moment you leave you will be treated like royalty. The accommodations are serene and luxurious. The restaurants are terrific. The spa is great. The people are terrific. We spent the days in the vineyards and then returned to a perfect place. Sometimes we wished we stayed on property and drank wine instead or heading to wine tastings. We would have like to stay another day or three. All personnel we encountered were tremendous. Mr Kim runs a great property.

So if you need a place to sleep after you go check out some Napa wineries or after you eat at The (Michelin ***) Restaurant at the Meadowood, you can't do any better than to stay here. 250 acres of hills with little (or big) chalets nestled between trees, overlooking a small golf course, or just more forest. They have all the usual outdoor activities you might expect like a couple of great pools (adult and kiddie), tennis, croquet, etc. Ordinarily excellent eating at the Grill. For example, the Grill has better croissants than I've been able to find in San Fran, and equal to the best in France. And then, 3-star Michelin dining at The Restaurant. French Laundry, watch out! The cottages themselves are as luxurious as you'd expect for the stiff tab, with amazing beds and all kinds of modern amenities while still preserving a rustic feel. The employees are exceptionally well trained and empowered to make you happy by doing anything within reason to make you happy. You want a golf cart to move your carcass from the restaurant to the chalet, 300 meters at 1 in the morning, and you're 30 and in great shape? Sure! A smiling golf card driver appears within 30 seconds outside the restaurant door. Most things you don't have to ask for--they anticipate them.

Room Tip: There are no tips needed. Every room is great. However, if you know that you're going to use t...

My husband and I went there for a week for our vacation.
The hotel is phenomenal , and we are very very picky, specially me who I am a clean freak.
The room was spotless, bed super comphy, we had a fire place so we could light a fire at night, nice porch to relax and watch the trees and animals, nice espresso machine to enjoy cappuccinos when we wanted.
The customer service from all the employees at the hotel was fantastic, from the reception person to the breakfast host to the cleaning personal, the tennis instructors, everybody was fantastic. I am looking forward to going back there . One of the most enjoyable places I ever stayed at. Good job meadowoods.

My wife and I planned a stay for the weekend of a charity event recently. She had a medical issue come up, and were told there would be no refund of our room (several thousand dollars). We were told it could be moved, but only within a very narrow window. So we are headed up to use the rooms while my wife IS STILL ON BED REST next week. Just so it isn't wasted.

We will be back to staying at the Bardessono, Auberge, or Carneros Inn on our upcoming stays. These people are absolutely ridiculous.

I will update my review once we have finished our best rest stay there next week.

After making my reservation, I called the resort to get some help with a few wine tours that Iwanted to visit and to make lunch and dinner reservations. I talked to a very pleasant and knowledgable man named Will Agee. He set up several private tours and food arranngements. All were fantastic! The resort itself is the best property in Napa for the high end visiter.(sorry Auberge ). Everything from the rooms, grounds . clubhouse , reception and of course the top notch staff. Will and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make our trip exceptional. I would recommend Meadowood to anyone who wants the very best.

Room Tip: there are no bad rooms. We had one for my son on the treetop area and it was great. My suite was a h...
