We stopped for pastries twice at The Model Bakery during our stay in St. Helena and enjoyed them each time. The price is on the higher side, but what's not in that town? For example, I think I paid $3.50 for an apple danish and $8.00 for a pint of fresh fruit. The food was very good, though, and the service was pleasant.
I was initially encouraged when we walked in, as my wife isn't able to eat gluten and I saw a sign noting a gluten free item, but was disappointed to see that was it. In a perfect world, there'd be more gluten free items, but I'm not incorporating that into my rating because it seems, if there was more demand, there'd probably be more items.
Swing by The Model Bakery for a pastry to say you went, but I wouldn't structure your breakfast around it every morning...seems like money could be better spent if you're looking to fill yourself up for the day.
