I wandered in as a single diner one evening because it was walking distance from the Hyatt. I was seated at the bar, which was fine because I like to watch cocktails being made. I liked it so much I went back again 2 nights later! The tri-tip with chimichuri was outstanding, as was the ratatouille with farm egg. I would order the beignets and deconstructed bread pudding again. They make their own tonic water for their specialty gin and tonic, and they have items on the cocktail menu that are creative and well done. The atmosphere is upscale but approachable and energetic. Talking with some local foodies at the bar I learned that Ella is one of Sacramento's best, and I can see why.
