We stayed at this Vagabond Inn as part of a two week trip around California, and it was one of the best value places we came across.

Not only is it very centrally located (we walked to the old town, the Crocker Gallery, the California State Railroad Museum, and at a push you could walk to the Capitol), you also get a Sacramento Gold Card (lots of discounts at restaurants and tourist attractions in the town).

The room was very well appointed, complete with fridge and microwave, and the only drawback was the wireless internet connection which didn’t seem to be available (sorry Holiday Inn, but I ended up using yours!). We didn’t hear any of the noise that other reviewers commented on.

One of the highlights was the pool (with Jacuzzi) which given the long drive was an added bonus.

The breakfast was good too – a wide range of options including fresh fruit and you could sit outside in the courtyard.

nice comfortable room. denny,s right next door and plenty of other restaunt all in walking distance. this hotel is located in walking distance to old town, westfield shopping mall, capitol building and crocker museum. free parking too.

This hotel is pretty good, but...No in-room WiFi? You have to go to the lobby area to access internet. In the business center you will find a couple of (steam powered?) old computers. My other complaint would be the noise from I street, there's no sound proofing and I had a inch high gap below the door! Other than this, the hotel was fine. Staff was great, You get a nice LCD TV, Micro and fridge and so on. But no WiFi???

We stayed here for one night on our way to Yosemite National Park. The room was adequate but we had a massive crack in the window pane! Also the sheets didn't look terribly clean and the shower wasn't great either. The traffic noise (from the highway overhead) was constant but the trains came and went all night and seem to like tooting their horns as much as possible! Hence, we didn't get alot of sleep. If you have earplugs, you will be fine. Having said this, it is in a very convenient location, free parking and, as advised by other travellers, is walking distance to 'Old Sac' which is great if you want to go for a drink at Fanny Anne's an not worry about catching a cab.
