We were travelling by train - the Vagabond is in an ideal location right opposite the Amtrak station and just a short walk from the superb railway museum and the sights of old Sacramento. They provide a decent free breakfast and there is a Denny's diner on site - or one block away there is the excellent River City Brewing Company in the K Street Mall with great beer and food.
There was a fridge in the room which was handy, too.
Downsides were the sound of the freight train horns which could be heard occasionally, but we couldn't hear the traffic to any great extent, even though there was a road right outside. And I agree with a previous comment about the steam powered computers in the 'business suite' - so slow!
One thing to watch out for is the extra $1.50 a night "Tourism Assessment Fee" which appeared on our bill in addition to the room charge, even though we had been quoted a price in advance. I don't know if this is particular to Sacramento or the Vagabond, but we weren't charged this anywhere else that we stayed in the USA.
