“Don't touch the mini-bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

An almost perfect stay at this property was marred by their annoying mini-bar. Like the Westin Seattle, this mini-bar automatically charges you if you touch anything in it or even check to make sure it has been locked. I did the latter twice and faced surprise unwarranted charges for snacks I did not consume. In fact I asked that they lock the contraption due to a similar problem at the Westin Seattle. My point: don't nicke and dime customers to death with vain attempts to raise room revenue. (Worse, 4 packs of peanuts are left on top of the mini-bar to further tempt guests.) Their is no excuse for such tackiness in an otherwise excellent property. (Clean, "well appointed" room, nice pool, comfortable bed.) They even provide free toothpaste.

Very nice hotel with great location for Sacramento Conference Center. At my Saturday arrival, lobby seemed like a ghost lobby it was so deserted, but staff was friendly enough. Downtown Sacramento is definitely a Monday though Friday kind of place. My room was nice , quiet, with a great bed, very nice sheets and towels.

Room was very clean and updated. Bed was very comfortable. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Old Sac is about 8 blocks down the street, about 15 minute walk. Right near an outdoor mall. IMAX located right behind hotel. Capitol located right across the street. Parking Garage with fee ($17 a day). WiFi not free. I would definitly stay here again.

When I checked into the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento I was given a room on the 3rd floor right above the lobby bar. It sounded like I was in the middle of the busy joint. So I called the front desk to inquire if there was another room. I was told yes and asked to come back down. By the time I arrived the front staff manager was a little annoyed at my request and after waiting for 20 minutes she finally was able to find another room.

Overall the hotel is very nice and a great location next to the Capitol park area. Just be sure to request a room away from the open lobby area.

I have stayed at the Hyatt a couple of times for meetings in the convention center. It is a very comfortable place to stay, nice quiet rooms and comfortable beds to sleep in. On my last stay I had a great view of the Capitol. The staff are nice and helpful. The food from room service and in the bar was tasty and fresh. Coffee maker in the room.

The location of this hotel is excellent. It's right across the street from the capitol building with its beautiful gardens and also surrounded by restaurants. It's also a 10-15 minute walk to Old Sacramento (which I found disappointing). As others have said, the rooms are modern and clean. It was exactly what I would expect for a Hyatt Regency - on the expensive side but great for business traveling.

My second stay here went very well - the front desk was very accommodating and professional on room selection and early check-in. The room was spacious and quiet (the Lutheran conferees were very well-mannered...) and from the south side of the seventh floor I had a great view of the Capitol and the full moon over the mall. Parking has easy in-and-out with the room key, and the c. 100 foot walk in the rain out the NE back door to my conference at the Convention Center was no problem. Formerly I stayed at the major chain hotel nearby, but I've decided I like the Hyatt better even though it doesn't have window seats.
