I stayed at this hotel from 9/18 to 9/20 for a weekend road trip out of town. I should mention I have stayed at this hotel before and have always had good rooms. I should really start by mentioning a few things about this hotel. They currently offer valet parking or a self park option in a city garage that sits very close to the hotel. Self park is cheaper at $12 and can be charged to your room. It has unlimited in/out visits per day but you must get your ticket stamped each time at the front desk. The garage appears to be pretty safe.
The hotel itself is large and sits at the end of the Downtown Westfield mall. While the mall is right next door noise and foot traffic are not an issue at all. I should note though that over time this outdoor mall seems to be dying slowly. The hotel also has a direct pathway to Old Town Sacramento (about 1 min walk) which is a touristy historic district with lots to see and do. Shops, museums, places to eat, a railroad and the Sacramento river. Of course you are also right in the middle of downtown and access to I-5 is very close too.
The room itself had a very roomy king bed, a nice bathroom, as well as nice furnishings in the room. The room was also very clean and I am very paticular about having a clean room, especially a room free of mold, mildew, and dust. This room had none of those three items in it. Overall it was a very nice room. I should mention that this is a business/convention hotel and we did notice some noise in the hall the second night but nothing that would disrupt our evening or worth complaining about.
The hotel itself has a pool on a part of the roof which is older but nice. It was actually closed for resurfacing when we stayed this time so perhaps it is nicer now. The hotel also has a restaurant as well as many others within a close distance. Many of those in Old Town, the mall, or a short drive away.
The staff at the hotel were terrific...when they appeared. Upon checking in on Friday night we arrived at the desk (third in line) to find no one at the counter and the others in line getting frustrated. Finally, a gentleman in line called the hotel which stired someone from the back who he asked for help, she appeared shortly after that at the desk. I should mention that both nights I had to go to the front desk, there was no one to be found at the desk. The second time a maintenance man alerted the staff in back that someone was at the front desk. I will say that every encounter with the staff was professional and that they offered great customer service and were very helpful once they appeared.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay close to Old Town or downtown in Sacramento. The rooms are clean, nice, and roomy. Plus the staff and services offered have always been great.
