“Good location for old town attractions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

Our purpose for visiting Sacramento was to see the railroad museum. This hotel is walking distance to everything in old town, including the museum. It's a bit funky but its nice. Hubby is 6'2 so the ceiling in the shower was a bit close (low ceilings coupled with a claw foot tub!) The vintage design was very well executed in the bathroom. Sipping a cocktail on the deck outside the River Grill in the breeze on a warm summer evening was very nice! Bonus if you are there when the boats pass by to see the "gold" bridge raise and lower. A very unique hotel and a unique location. Worth a visit for those who aren't looking for the Ritz, but looking for a good time and a unique accomodation.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the last night of our California road trip. The hotel is so charming and clean. It has a great location in Sacramento's Old Town. The front desk people were so sweet, they gave great restaurant advice, and when we asked for directions to their recommended restaurant they printed out a copy of directions to get us there. I wish we could go back to Sacramento, even if only to stay here!

My partner surprised me with a night in this romantic river boat hotel on my last night in California... It's been restored to old world beauty and while the rooms are small (I warn you) it does take you to another place and time. I wouldn't spend a week there - I love space but for a night or two with one's significant other - perfect and romantic. Wonderful location in old Sac too!

We spent 2 nights on The Delta King. The rooms were beautifully clean and presented, greeted as old friends when we boarded and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Kids loved the waterpark that was suggested by staff, with my husband and I enjoying the city and the Museums - we all had a good time in Sacramento.

My daughter & son-in-law had their reception on the Delta King in June of 2009. It was very hot unfortunately! There was little to no air conditioning in the room where the reception was. This is surprising because Sacramento does get some hot weather. I would have thought the heat would not have been a problem on the boat. Next they were very slow getting the food out & they did not provide enough of it or of water. The concept is good, but for my $$ I would book a reception elsewhere.

Staying on board the Delta King is an experience I would definitely recommend for anybody visiting Sacramento. The hotel is of good standard with clean, decent sized rooms and a great breakfast offered! Old Sacramento is a charming place to spend a few days and the Delta King is the ideal base from which to explore it, with the new town just a short walk away.

I really enjoyed my one-night stay on the Delta King. I was in town for business and I thought I would try something different. This is a real boat, so you have to understand that before you book your stay. The rooms are quaint, but very small. Once you realize that, you will enjoy a lovely dining room, a friendly staff, a great bar with nice views of the river and a convenient, central location. Parking is not included in your room price and there is no where else nearby to park, so figure $18, plus a tip for the Valet into the cost of your stay. The food is good. Breakfast in the restaurant is included in your price. Free wi-fi is included, but some rooms have no desk for your computer, so be ready to improvise. Everyone should give it a try at least once!

Room Tip: A view of the river adds to the experience.
