My stay at this hotel was horrible, from before I got there until the night I left. I was in Sacramento to take the California Bar Exam, which is stressful enough. However, the staff at this hotel is clearly clueless as to what guest service means, except, of course for the breakfast staff and housekeeping.
Prior to arrival I spoke with numerous hotel employees to make sure everything was set. I booked at the end of January and requested a refridgerator, which is first come first served. I was repeatedly told to request an early check-in the day before arrival, which I did. Suffice it to say, the reservationist I spoke to when making the request spoke to me as if I was hearing the English language for the first time (by the way, English is my first and only language!).
When I did arrive (almost 1 hour after the early check-in I requested), I was told no rooms and no refridgerators were available. I was told about 'first reserved' blah blah blah, then I reminded him I booked back in January, while most other bar takes did not even book until mid-February at the earliest. Then I went to pay with a check, at which time he told me the hotel does not take checks. I thought this was strange as when I called a month earlier and wanted to prepay, they couldn't take my credit card over the phone, but I could mail them in a check...perplexing!
So, I give the clerk my card and he said he would put 1 night only on it, then I could get cash and pay the rest. I go outside and immediately as I walk through the door he announces (loudly): Your credit card was declined.
I looked up and 7 people were standing in line to check-in staring at me ... it was mortifying. I even have 2 friends who witnessed it and were shocked.
But the best is yet to come!! On my last night there, after spending $450, the night auditor went psychotic on me!!! I had a couple of friends over celebrating the bar and apparently there was a noise complaint. Instead of calling the room and asking us to keep it down, he shows up at the door and begins berating me up oneside and down the other with profanity. I asked him his name and he flipped me off as I was walking away. When I went to the front desk to demand his name, he called me 'trash', picked up his book (after calling the police!!!) and started reading.
Just now when I checked my credit card, I had been charged an extra $75 (for what I don't know) and when I called to speak with someone they said, "yeah, the night auditor doesn't have the best demeanor." So, clealry the hotel knows the night auditor is crazy and yet chooses to subject their guests to his outrageous behavior anyway.
Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else!!! For your sanity's sake!!!
