“A gem in mid-town Sacramento”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

We held a team retreat at the Amber House and all roomed at the B&B. I have stayed at many a B&B and Amber House was excellent in all respects. We were greeted by Judith, a welcoming and gracious hostess, who attended to our every need during our stay. The main house is a charming early 1900s craftsman with beautiful and well-preserved architectural details and furnishings. I stayed in the Emily Dickenson suite, which was roomy with a super comfy bed, a fireplace and a nice-sized bathroom with skylight roof. I did peek at other rooms, which were all nice, each with its own style (and each varied in size). Breakfast each morning was delicious, and staff graciously accommodated special requests from the set menu. The B&B is within a few blocks walking distance of a number of nice restaurants, and the warm chocolate chip cookies delivered to the rooms each evening were a perfect dessert. I highly recommend Amber House as a first class B&B experience.

my husband and I stayed at the Amber House for the 1st time February 17-19, 2012 and could not have been happier with selecting the Amber House. The staff was great- even washed clothes for us. The breakfast was amazing. I never knew Oranges could taste so good! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!!!

Great location, wonderfully attentive and friendly hosts, LOVED the fireplace and patio of "Mozart Room." Breakfast just right; appreciate having had choice of light vs. regular menu. Couple of nits offered in spirit of "continuous improvement" from our persnickety standpoint: curtains on bed looked worn; and for us two 60 year olds, the two chairs did not have enough "seat support" (possibly add piece of wood underneath and or restuffed seat pillows??). All in all, this was a great B&B experience for us, we'd highly recommend to others, and would love to come back again sometime.

My partner and I stayed here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We live in Sacramento and couldn't get out of town for the night, so I chose to surprise her by bringing her here. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. We would have never even known that we were still so close to home. We had dinner at Mulvaney's, which is just a short walk away. The innkeepers were extremely nice and accommodating. They took care of everything from rose petals on the bed, to chilled apple cider, and home made cookies and milk. Breakfast in bed the next morning was divine. We will definitely be staying here again and have highly recommended it to friends.

Room Tip: All of them seemed really nice. We stayed in the Bach room, but saw the Mozart before we left and wi...

Beautiful old building tastefully maintained. Little pricy. Rooms are clean. But there's not much privacy. We were on the ground floor and we could hear everything from the top floor above us. That was pretty annoying and shattered the peace and quiet we came here for !
Service was excellent. Hostesses were very nice.

My husband's parents live in Sacramento so we visit every other month. This inn makes it worth the visit. It is located near nice restaurants--the Waterboy for one, Mulvaney's is another. I think we have stayed in all the rooms at the inn by now. They are all just great. The breakfast in the morning is always wonderful. You can have it delivered to your room (which is what we always do) or go to the main dining room. We will only stay here when we go to Sacto.

Room Tip: we have stayed in most of the rooms and they are all about the same.
