“Convenient location....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

This RV park is basically a big parking lot for your RV. If that's what you're looking for, then you'll like it just fine probably. We didn't care for it because we prefer more space between the sites and we like a more park-like setting with trees and grass. The sites aren't at all level, or at least ours wasn't.

They have a policy with the bathrooms that you must provide a cash-only deposit to acquire a bathroom key if you want to use the bathrooms. We did not know this prior to our arrival since as it was not stated on our reservation and no one told us on the phone. We didn't have any cash on is when we arrived, but really needed to use the bathrooms. The staff was quite rude about and gave us a big lecture on how we should have told them we wanted to be able to use the bathrooms. Half the reason why we picked this place was because they advertised clean bathrooms on their website.

We never could connect to their wi-fi and there was no cable tv.

Overall we just didn't like this RV park and we wouldn't stay here again.

The rating is a bit higher than it would be in other areas, but Sacramento and vicinity are notoriously lacking in nice, quiet, secure RV parks. So in comparison, this one is great.
In general, the park is well-managed by friendly, competent staff. The paved parking area is a bit sloped, but the gravel parking area in the back lot is quite level. The bathrooms and showers were very, very clean. The noise level was very low except for the rare occasion that some big event at CALEXPO was occurring at night.
The lights just were not that bright -- I don't know what the other reviews are referring to. Also, although it was a large paved parking lot area, there were quite a few trees planted throughout and surrounding the park. To the side and rear of the park there is a bike trail that connects to a very large system of bike trails along the American River.
The location is central and it takes only minutes to get to downtown. The security was good -- surveillance cameras, large fences surrounding the park, and police/security cars patrolling the area.
We enjoyed our stay and have returned to stay again. This is where we stay on our frequent visits to the area.

I stayed her in a 5th Wheel. We were in town for surgery and apps at UC Davis. I spent most of the time alone, so I was interested in safety and location. I was also driving and wanted a location that was easy access from the Freeway.

Everything you could want is close! The office staff are outstanding. They were so helpful and nice! They told me about a company that delivers propane! I can't remember the name but what a great guy. He came out as scheduled and didn't charge much more then if I had gone to get the propane myself.

The park is slanted and you might need to level more then normal. The new area of the park is for larger units. It is not paved but might be more level. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me questions.

This park is located at the Cal Expo fairgrounds, so is very close to virtually *everything* in downtown Sacramento.

However, it's essentially a great big parking lot!

There are two sections to stay in - one is gravel, one is paved. When I was reading reviews on RV websites, I read a few comments that the paved lot was not level, so we booked a spot in the gravel section. Well, that was technically true . . . the paved area does slope a bit but any modern RV with jacks should not have a problem getting level.

Trees are in short supply, although you can see some from the campsites. The paved section does have a few, but the spaces are shorter and narrower in that section. Our space in the gravel section was about 50 feet long and was plenty wide. There is no grass, and no picnic tables.

All sites have water, sewer and cable. Our site had 50 amps but I don't know if they all do. I got the impression that the paved section was older so it's possible it might have only 30 amps. Next to the office there is a laundry room although we didn't use it, and I think there are showers.

If all this sounds rather grim, it wasn't. It's just sparse.
It's not a resort!

Everything is quite tidy and the office folks (who live onsite in a motorhome) were friendly and helpful. The RV park backs up to the racetrack, and we were able to watch the "jiggy-joggers" (otherwise known as harness horses!) work in the mornings. The far side of the park abuts the river with walking trails and doggie areas.

There are huge streetlights that are on at night, so it doesn't really get dark. It didn't bother us, but might bother some RVers. The whole area is fenced and reasonably quiet considering you're camping in the middle of a large city. We found it easy to get to the park from the freeway.

For us, this park was fine as it's so convenient with plenty of room for big rigs. It would also be handy as a one-night stopover near the freeway. The price was $35. We'd stay here again.

Note - I'm sure that this place is completely packed at fair time. Book far in advance if you plan to stay during State Fair.

Room Tip: Don't expect a "resort"!
