“My favorite place in Sacramento”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

The food is always excellent. The staff are professional but also friendly and not snobby. The wine list is great. The chefs are always accomodating of special needs and often fix up a special plate for me to accomodate my gluten free needs. Its not cheap but its the best value in town for a high-end dinner and is always my first choice to celebrate my birthday each year.

“Still a Favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Waterboy is still a favorite of our family although I believe the food quality seems slightly down from a couple of years ago. That being said, you can still get a nice meal and good service. The presentations were nice, but some of the flavors slightly off (beets in beet salad over-pickled). Portions seem a bit on the smaller side but I would come here for the Potato Gratin alone! It is delicious. I would still recommend Waterboy, but come prepared to have a couple of drinks and relax ...and ask the servers what is really good that night. They are usually spot on.

“Pricey but the food was good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

None of the "entrees" or strters had any sugar or sweetness to them which is such a bit of fresh air in the American cuisine in which everybody adds sugar, cinnamon, and other horrible tastes to it. Sophisticated without bein over the top. Unexpectedly good.

“Consistency wanted”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

I have dined here several times and am starting to see a consistency problem. Start with a well run bar with good mix of drinks definitely the one consistory great area. Started with marcona almonds. Tasty but no value added. I would like to see them roasted them with some flavoring. First was steak tartare, flavorful but lacked some zest. What really made this a disappointment were the soggy French fries. So soggy they bent and were unable to stand up to dipping in their aoli. The aoli was very good. Left all the fries on the plate and registered my complaint to wait staff which was promptly ignored. Next was the special of the day, ravioli stuffed with favas. This is why I return, a stunning dish and worth a trip alone.

“Nice Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

Friends recommended going here before seeing a play. Was not sure what to expect but the service and food was excellent. The ambiance was nice but not for a romantic dinner I would recommend it for groups of friends and families.
