“Great Happy Hour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Great location right on the Sacramento River, sit outside on the patio overlooking the river and the boats going by. Our waitress Angie was great, we were there for happy hour, the drink prices were great and many appetizers were half price. Calamari and the crab dip are a must for appetizers! Fun atmosphere. Big place but it was really busy on a Friday night by 6:00 so plan accordingly.

“Fun Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

On one of our recent trips to Sacramento, we enjoyed Joes for a family dinner. We stopped by in the morning to make reservations, but were told that they do not take same day reservations, but would for a future date. I found that odd, but it was not a defining factor for us. We showed up for dinner and put in our names. The estimated wait was 45-60 minutes, and they took my cell phone number. I was delighted to receive call in half that time. We were escorted to a corner table on the patio, overlooking the river. A lovely location and view. The server promptly appeared, took a drink order, and brought crayons for my young grandson. She quickly returned with the drinks and reviewed the menu is great detail. She made some great recommendations, and even steered us away from a couple of items, that she claimed were not their best. That says alot about their efforts to satisfy their customers. Appetizers, replenished drinks and entrees flowed out on a timely basis. The server was engaging, and really added to our enjoyable experience. Food was amazing. They do a little song and dance with the staff, that was entertaining, and not obtrusive. This is a popular, busy and loud restaurant. If you are looking for a romantic, candlelight evening, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for great food, amazing service and beautiful views, then look no further.

“Service was great, Food not so much.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

we checked several of the restaurant menus as we were walking around old town, and the one that sounded best was joe's crab shack, plus it was located on the river! a great wining cominbination.

well, one would have hoped. we ordered fried calamari as a starter - we were starving and dug right in, but it was not hot - and was not served with lemon. i ordered the grilled malibu shrimp. shrimp was alright. the rice was mushy and the broccoli was not seasoned at all - no butter, seasoning salt, nothing. and my whole plate of shrimp, rice and broccoli was not very hot. more like kinda warm. hubby's fish and shrimp wasn't too hot either, but warmer than my plate was. the fish was really good, moist with a light coating of batter. the shrimp was a bit chewy, the panko crust too thick. the coffee, however, was good - a very nice surprise to end the meal.

saving grace...Kaitlin, our server. she was the best. friendly and helpful with our menu questions. we were both so thirsty from walking around all day in the sun - she was so quick with the soda and iced tea refills.

you might not be thrilled with the food, but ask for kaitlin and you'll

“Delicious and great fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We wanted to taste as much different as possible in one meal, so we did not order crabs, but one dish of salmon and one big platter with crab stuffed shrimp, grilled Malibu shrimp and coconut shrimp, 2 crispy fish fillets, great balls of fire, chips, hot dip and coleslaw. While we were eating we could enjoy the view of the Sacramento River and in between also a dance performance by the waiters/waitresses. Everything was delicious, and there was enough on the big platter to share. After it we could just manage to share one lovely peach crumble with ice-cream. A place we'd certainly like to visit again.
