“Great on the river”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Rooms are nice and familiar if you have stayed in an Embassy Suites. Clean and we'll maintained. Valet is a bit pricey but they were great and responsive. Great location and would recommend for both business and leisure travelers. Lots of dining near by and access to the freeway makes for convenient outings.

Great hotel in prime downtown location, walking distance to the water, great places to eat, and lots of shopping. Hotel offers great light, we had a river view, suites were a nice size, very private feel. Complimentry breakfast was great. Overall, a great experience.

The internet was very slow, the common areas very crowded with conventions, the lounge are/breakfast area very crowded. Helpful staff. nicely arranged common areas, HVAC unit poorly working and noisy.

Without wifi service I was almost satisfied with your hotel location, amenities and services. Accommodation fee was a litte bit higher than other hotels. Your hotel absolutely shoud introduce free wifi services.

Our first trip to Sacramento. Excited to see Old Sacramento and the Capital. Even more excited we could take the train and be close to everything. The hotel is in a great location All of the staff we interacted with were professional and friendly and appeared to enjoy what they were doing. The suite was clean and comfy. Beds were small but soft with very comfortable bedding. Free "Manager's Reception" was great; we enjoyed free cocktails while sitting in the lobby enjoying the sculptures and fountains. Our host was friendly and pleasant Free morning breakfast included made to order omeletes, waffles and french toast, fresh fruit and oatmeal, bacon and sausage, potatoes, coffee, juice, hot chocolate.....and on and on. We caught the hotel shuttle to the Capital. Nice driver who went out of his route to take us there. We had a river view room which was a nice view of the bridge and river. We will stay here again when we visit Sacramento to see our first River Cats baseball game.

I am pleased that you enjoyed our hotel’s convenient location and you found our staff to be professional and friendly. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts about our complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast which offers a variety of options. Our Managers Reception which offers complimentary cocktails can be very relaxing to coming back to after a day of site seeing in Sacramento. We thank you for staying with us and leaving such a kind review. We look forward to having you back to our hotel next time you visit Sacramento.

I had a good experience at this hotel except that I had the room with street view instead of the river view. It would have been more comforting and relaxing.Everything is excellent and comfortable. The meeting rooms were comfortable. The staff at the front desk and the valet were friendly and courteous. The food was good. I enjoyed my stay and I would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

I thought I had a good option with a good location for spending time in old downtown. The hotel itself is in a great location for that. Just park you car there are walk across the street to old town. We did have several frustrations though.

Walking into the room we thought it looked nice enough for the price and we did have a view of the river. It was very odd though, there was no temperature control in the room, just a fan in the front room. It was warm and stuffy in there which got better when we opened the bedroom window the few inches you can, but if it was any warmer outside it wouldn't have helped. It also wasn't the best when it was either listen to voices outside and train horns or have the room stuffy at night. One of our girls also brought trash from under one of the bed asking what it was. We needed to use the pullout out, but had to call for pillows and blankets as there were none in the closet as the sign on the bed said there would be. And in calling for them we had to call the front desk (answered on 5th ring) because housekeeping didn't answer at all. One of the girls called from the bathroom because they couldn't get any toilet paper. Housekeeping had put a full roll on the holder with another full roll wrapped behind it making it so it wouldn't turn at all. I finally just removed the tp from the roll so it was useable. We went to the pool for the girls to swim, which was one of their trip highlights, but left without even walking in after being hit with an eye watering chlorine smell, a tiny pool full of kids and the water looking not too clear. Sad girls at that point. We called for our car to be ready on our way out, again talking to the front desk because nobody answered at valet. Ended up standing outside for some time before being told there was some miscommunication and they would go get our car then.

Given, the hotel was decent and it's not a high end resort, but it's also not the super-8. We expected a little better thoughtfulness for our money. I wasn't planning on writing a public review, but decide to after I tried to complete their on-screen survey, but got a message that even that wasn't working.
