“Typical Embassy Suites - next to Old Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

If you have stayed at an Embassy Suites before, then you can expect the same here. Good hotel, very clean, situated right on the Sacramento River, but beware, also right next to a busy freeway. If you want a quiet room, ask for one facing the river on a upper floor. Two of the other sides face a busy street and highway. Noise was not too bad, but you could hear it. The nice thing about this hotel is that it is right across the street from Old Town Sacramento which has a number of nice restaurants and quaint little shops. It also holds the Sacramento Train Museum - which if you are interested, is really remarkable. You can walk to the capitol, - but it is a ways - maybe a half mile to mile? I can't gauge it - but you are on the same street as the capitol. I stayed here on business and have been reading about the parking charges - I didn't see that since my company contracted for it, but if you want cheaper parking, you can park right across the street in a public parking garage far cheaper and overnight. If you came in on the river side, just go up the street, hang a u turn and turn right into the garage when you get opposite the hotel. Food was fine and overall a nice stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor on the river side if possible for less noise and a nice view.

Unlike some Embassy Suites that are situated away from town, this one is across the street from Old Sacramento and walking distance to downtown. The hotel is clean and nice with good views from all the rooms. The staff are attentive and professional. The $28 parking fee seems a little steep, but this is the State Capital so it was not too out of line.

Pretty good hotel, but the parking situation will keep me from staying there again. $28/day for valet and $24/day for self park is ridiculous. I did find a garage within walking distance for $15/day. I paid for a river view and got one, except half of my view looked into a wall.

Its always interesting to see management replies to posts at some hotels. If your watching, chime in.
As a Sliver Hilton Honors member, I could expect some small perks....like free wifi. ES conurinue to charge all HH members (except gold and diamond) for such access, up to 12.95 per day. Come on, it cost next to nothing for wifi since you have to offer it anyway. Hey, the free paper must cost you much more per day at a point in time when most folks want wifi instead of print. Look around and you will find most properties are offering free Internet access, including your Hampton brand. I'm a loyal Hilton customer, staying only at Hilton properties. Since I'm now retired, I simply don't travel as much so it impossible for me to hit the gold level. How about free Internet under the AARP rate plan? Or free for all HH members?
Anyway, this property itself lives up to the high Hilton standard. Great location, decent manager reception and breakfast, pricey parking, large rooms, comfortable beds, professional well trained staff and very clean thruout. Stay away from the Interstate 5 side of the building if noise is a problem for you. It's right on I-5. Other three side are fine with the river side being an upgrade.

This Embassy Suites is one of the cleanest I have been to, the price is reasonable, and is in a great location right in Old Sac. You can stroll around in the evening, dine and have cocktails at the various restaurants without needing to worry about driving back to the hotel. Snacks with their evening reception is not lacking, like some others, and the breakfast was delicious.

The Hotel is located in Old Sacramento walking distance to many restaurants and shopping.. Rooms are Large and clean, bed was wonderful.

Downside, Manager reception was a disaster...we had to stand in line for 10 minutes to get waited on and the servers didn't want to be there...No place to sit and snacks were a mess.. Not enough help or sitting area to handle the people..Oh they know ahead of time how many people are in the hotel....Not good.

Breakfast was a repeat if not worse than the managers reception...had to take out breakfast to our room..no where to sit and really needed a clean up..Manager need to be refreshed on how to have enough people serving per the amount of people that stayed in the hotel the night before... Food as you can expect was a long wait..was Ok but being we had to retreat to our room for a place to sit..no refills...

I would change managers for this service if I was in charge.

Room Tip: Location is great and if possible get a view of river and Bridge...
