“Sac. CA Embassy Suites is a lovely clean hotel...great bang for your buck!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

My husband and I stayed here in Nov. 2012 on the last part of our west coast 40th birthday travel escapade (we did Vegas, San Fran., Napa, and Sac.) and I must say, this hotel was clean and surprisingly elegant. Each night they have a cocktail reception for a few hours with hors d'oeuvres and snacks including, chips, dip, pretzels, and open bar (no top shelf of course) but wines, beers, and standard mixed drinks. Which is complimentary for guests. Then in the morning there is a complimentary breakfast buffet, which was FABULOUS! There was an omelet station w/ all the fixings, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, cereals, yogurts, granola, various fruits, muffins, toast, teas, coffee, and juices. Just an amazing amount of food. The pool is indoors and heated, clean and quiet, as is the Jacuzzi right next to it. There is also a small workout room (not quite a gym) but it has the basics (treadmill, stationary bike, weights, etc) headphones and lemon water available as well. At the end of a long two week vacation on the West Coast, this was a lovely way to end it. It’s also near the capitol building and walking distance to Old Sacramento, which is like walking back in time, into an old western movie. Lots of fun. The staff at the Embassy Suites can’t go w/o mention as well. We were looking to just go out for a quick drink locally and they gave us plenty of options along w/ shuttle service to the nearby places (that only happens if they aren’t using the shuttle to p/u guests from the airport)! ES is geared to the more corporate traveler, but I enjoyed it very much!

I have never had a bad experience at an Embassy Suites. This stay was no different. The location is perfect walking distance to Old Sac and Joes Crab Shack. Our room was very clean and roomy. Since it was just my husband, daughter and myself it was a perfect size room. The bed was very comfy though my daughter slept on the pull out which wasn't at all comfortable for her. It is valet parking only so expect to pay extra for the parking. Surprisingly, there is no free wifi but that wasn't too big of a deal but odd since other Hilton properties offer free wifi. If we would have stayed longer than one night we would have opted for a river view room. Our room faced the street so in the morning we were able to hear the freeway traffic below. Wasn't too bad but could be distracting to some. Great stay and we will be back.

I stay at Embassy Suites a lot since I travel with the family. This one is higher quality in the architecture and interior finishes. The beds had high quality sheets and the furniture was nice and new. The were two closets in the unit and sufficient dressers space to accomodate 4 family members.

The breakfast was very, very good and the staff was around to quickly pick up dishes and keep tables cleared. They have a greater number of staff members attending to the guests during breakfast. The food was well prepared and the staff was very helpful so no complaints.

The hotel is in a weird spot wedged between the freeway and the river. We requested a room away from the freeway side which made things much better for us. I am a light sleeper and the noise could keep me awake.

The bathroom has enough space with good sized counters. I hate hotels that have no place to leave things in the bathroom.

Room Tip: I like the rooms facing the bridge or at least away from the freeway which is so close.

Embassy Suites offer alot in terms of amenties. Included cook to order breakfast, microwave and frig, sitting room with a sleeper couch. Everything you expect from an Embassy Suite, you will find at this hotel with the exception of free parking. You either pay $25 for valet parking or the same to self park in a garage across the street.

Was offered upgrade for $15 a night to have a river view room. I jumped at the offer as had stayed in hotel a few years ago and had a room overlooking the freeway. I found that room very loud for sleeping so welcomed paying a little extra to get room with a view and that would be quiet for sleeping.

Location is excellent. You are across the road from Sacramento's Old Town and an easy walk to a large outdoor mall with food court and Macys department store. The state capitol building is also in walking distance.

I used the exercise room and found the equipment good quality (Precor treadmills) and with TV screens. If you like to watch tv as you exercise be certain to bring your own headphones as you can't count on there being any in the exercise room to use.

Back to river view room, my motive was to have a quiet room, but was surprised at the view being rather impressive. It was end of December so the river was quite high. The hotel is located right at the Tower Bridge that goes into West Sacramento and it is impressive looking.

As we were leaving the bellman alerted us that the traffic light to get onto the road doesn't have a "trip" from the hotel. If there is a car leaving the garage across the road, a switch will activate so you get a green light. We waited through two light signals and never got a green light. So we went ahead and made a right on red, went to the next intersection and made a "U" turn.

Overall reaction was quite good to this hotel. Room seemed to be recently remodeled and the crown molding in both the bedroom and sitting room was impressive. We noticed there was an abundance of sprinkler head through the rooms which gives you peace of mind when staying in a 8-story hotel.

Room Tip: Two sides of this hotel are situationed next to a major freeway so if a quite room is important, req...

We had the same experience as Beth88H. We stayed here on 12/14 to 12/15 and the bellman loaded our belongings on the dolly and told us to call valet and he would load our trunk with our items while we ate breakfast. When we got to our vehicle under the portico, we tried to open the trunk with the key fob, but it didn't work-the trunk was jammed. We had to get staff to unjamb it. I got one item out of the trunk but didn't realize until we arrived at the airport that our two most valuable items were missing. We returned to the hotel hoping to find the items in their storage area but they weren't there. The manager was "on his break" and the security officer was not on duty all weekend. I had to play phone tag with him the following week. Essentially the hotel and their insurance company, Farmers denied any responsibility. Don't stay at this Black Swan or you'll be sorry. We filed a police report and will pursue all available avenues to achieve reimbursement after being crime victims in this establishment.

I normally like Embassy Suites but valuables were missing after bellmen loaded our car at the Sacramento, California Promenade location. Inquiries and follow up netted us very rude and irresponsible replies. Stay somewhere else in Sacramento but other Embassy Suites locations have been excellent.

We stayed here for a night on a 2 week tour of California with our sons aged 22 and 18, and all thought it was an excellent base. We enjoyed looking around Sacramento, especially the Capitol Building, which was great.
