“Location location location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

If you don't need to be within walking distance of capital then this is a very good bet for Sacramento because of it's location. You can walk to the tourist area of Old Sac for their stores and restaurants, you are in a spot with a great view of the river, you are a few hundred yards to an entrance of all of the major Sac highways. The lobby area is nice with the towering atrium, the rooms are very spacious with the extra sitting room, and you should take advantage of the breakfast buffet since you are paying for it in your room charge. This isn't the most beautiful or elegant hotel I have ever seen and you don't think of it in terms of Ritz Carlton service but because it offers so much it really is probably the best overall choice in Sacramento - and I have stayed at them all.

This hotel has the qualities that you expect from an Embassy Suites -- very nice rooms, breakfast and manager's reception in the atrium. The hotel is located directly adjacent to Old Town Sacramento and all of the amenities that are there. Very nice location for family travelers and vacationers. The only downside to this hotel that -- if you want to park at the hotel -- you have to valet park.

We had the pleasure of staying here during our road trip and have no regrets. The location is very good, right next door to Old Town Sacramento with it's restaurants & shops. It's right on the promenade which is a nice river front walk, especially at night. The check in was easy & quick. Our room was large & overlooked the river. It had everything we needed, large TV, clean, tidy. Nice bathroom, with good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. Our stay included buffet breakfast. They had a good choice of food with hot & cold dishes all fresh and frequently changed/topped up. I would stay here again and urge you to do the same.

We stayed here one night after attending a friend's wedding in Sacramento. Check-in was polite and speedy. All the right things were said as I'm sure they were instructed when hired. The upgraded room (805) was located with a half-a-view. Just to the right of the window was the exterior wall of the room next door therefore eliminating half of the view. No way should this room be considered an upgrade.

The room & breakfast was just average and typical of any Embassy Suites. At check out time I called the valet to get our car ready when we went down. After a full minute of ringing, with no answer, we went down to leave. Expecting to see a lot of people at the valet station I was surprised to see it empty and the valets chatting & laughing. Too busy to answer their phone and too busy to get a tip with their attitude.

Poor service makes a good hotel just average.

Room Tip: Riverside room 805 should be avoided.

This hotel like many Embassy Suites has an atrium where the breakfast buffet and manager's receptions are held. The suites and public areas are lovely and service is excellent. I've used the hotel on two occasions when visiting Sacramento and been very satisfied with it each time. The hotel is located a few blocks from the capital and about 15 minutes from the airport.

Room Tip: Rooms with river view are nice.

The location of this hotel is perfect. It is right along the riverfront. Old Sacramento was just across the street and down a short path. The check in staff seemed just ok. I would have liked a little map or some assistance with navigating the area. Front desk seemed a little hurried and didn't really take the time to help us out too much. At first glance the room seemed perfect. It is always nice to have a suite with the extra space. However, upon closer inspection there were some cleanliness problems. The pillows had an odd scent (left in wash too long?). There was a nose strip on the wall of our shower. There were fruit loops in the futon mattress. On a positive note, the valet parking attendants went above and beyond. It was there that we received directions, offers of ice for our cooler, and supreme service. Perhaps they should teach the maids what service is about.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a room away from the freeway. Rooms facing the river would be a better choice.

Many convention guests and vacationers will be pleased with the hotel's location and room updates. Business travelers like me do not like management's indifference to top Hilton Honors members' requests. Promises are not kept, calls and emails are not returned, upgrade requests are laughed at, late check-out requests are often met with hostility, and so on. The top management of this property apparently has no respect whatsoever for top business customers--and this flows down to the management at the front desk.

Don't get me wrong: Many employees--valet parking, restaurant people, etc.--do a fine job, but don't tangle with the front desk managers or you will be treated like someone who just walked off the street. I say "stay away" from this hotel is you are a top tier Honors business customer and expect a red carpet, or even a dirty, stained carpet, to be rolled out for you. It won't be.
