“Pretty nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2011

The hotel is conveniently located just steps from Old Sacramento and walking distance from downtown. The suites are spacious and well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. Other than that, there is nothing special about this place. The staff was friendly and helpful and the biggest plus was their courtesy shuttle to/from the airport. My main complaint has to do with the noise level. Since the hotel is right by the highway, the rooms are very noisy all day/night long and there is basically no insulation so you can hear the traffic even from the top floors. Furthermore, because of the hotel layout with the interior courtyard, there is also a lot of noise from the inside (the restaurant, bar, lobby, etc.). So both sides of the room are pretty loud. They do have a business center but it only has two computers, so be prepared to pay for in-room internet service. I didn't try their buffet breakfast, which is complimentary, but the daily happy hour definitely made up for all the other inconveniences :-)

My husband & I checked out on the 3rd day of our stay, we had continuous problems with the floor leaking into the carpeted area, from the bathroom. We were promised a one night credit (thru Orbitz), on Feb 8th, and I have called 4 times to follow-up on it. The Manager on duty at the Embassy basically said "they did their part in agreeing to the give Orbitz the ok to credit us" we still have not received a credit, or a call back from either party.
Very unhappy about the was this is being handled. I expected better from this type of hotel.

A good basic room but not worth the approx $200 (with AAA discount). It's a shame they charge for Internet access.

Had dinner in the hotel restaurant which wasn't horrible but not great for the $37 it cost me.

The staff were fantastic. The room was acceptably clean.

Doubt I'd stay there again.

Fantastic service from the front desk to the room cleaners. The decor was fresh and up to date, we had lots of space in the room, only downside was the the lack of tea/coffee and no milo/hot chocolate. Only enough for 2 cups of tea/coffee and not enough milk for our use, we did have a small fridge and eventually found somewhere to buy milk. I am sure if we had asked they would have supplied more. Rooms were very clean and bed comfortable, lots of draw/cupboard space, and coin laundry was very reasonable with big machines. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. Location was perfect being across the road from the old town and 5 minutes walk to the mall. We were offered a shuttle to go within a 3 mile radius however the airport runs took priority and they were unable to accomodate us. Very difficult to get around Sacremento, or lack of information stations, and didn't feel safe being outside the old town.

This is the first time I've stayed at this location for an Embassy Suites, but it was the same as the last 3 others I have stayed at on the weekend. Too many noisy families and kids whose manners seem to disappear once they arrive.

Once the business travelers have gone, Embassy Suites apparently likes to solicit the kids sports teams (little league, dance competitions, basketball, etc). The parents and chaperones seemed to think they own the hotel and the lobby, corridors and swimming pool was an unsupervised playground!

This particular location was also popular with young adults on the weekends so the "Manager's Reception" was a huge free for all. The 2 servers, however, are to be commended. They smiled and seemed to really be eager to please their guests.

The hotel was nice and the location was excellent. But I won't be staying at any more Embassy Suites, anywhere, on the weekends.

We stayed here for our anniversary. I was really looking forward to the evening reception, but ended up getting there too late. The staff at the check out desk was efficient, but not overly friendly. This wasn't suprising, since Embassey is a chain, but a little disappointing. The room was very spacious and everything was comfortable and in good working order. We walked to dinner over at Old Town (very easy walk across the street). The breakfast in the morning was the clencher...made to order omelets, biscuits & gravy, fruit, potatoes - they left nothing out, and it all tasted very good. After breakfast, we walked around Old Town again and stopped to enjoy the view of the Sacramento River. Then walked through a tunnel (underpass) under the freeway to the Westfield shopping center. Not a huge mall, but a pleasant walk. We would like to come back with our kids and enjoy the indoor pool/jacuzzi, evening reception, and a movie over at the shopping center. You can also rent bikes from a little shop in Old Town. The website indicates that parking is available with their valet, or in the garage across the street. We went with the garage, and it was only $5 for the night and then 1.50 per half hour after that. Much less expensive than the website said it would be.

I stayed at this hotel twice in one week this month. The first time with my husband and friends while we attended a RiverCats game, the second time with my daughter while we attended a concert at Arco Arena. The location of this hotel can't be beat if you are going to Sacramento. Both times we walked across the street to Old Sacramento for a great choice of dining places. The price was higher for the midweek stay than it was for the weekend stay, but the $25 parking fee was the same both times. The valet parkers are great, wonderful service.
We attended the managers cocktail reception both times. The weekend reception was packed with a very long line, the mid week reception was much easier to navigate, no lines. Service was good on both stays, though for some reason on the weekend trip my husband was the only person at the manager's cocktail reception asked to show his key...no big deal, but embarrassing to him. A few days later when my daughter and I were there we wanted to have a glass of wine outside on the patio and the bartender, while not rude was less than enthused with us interrupting the conversation he was having when we approached. Again, not that big of a deal, but it stood out among the rest of the good service we received
The rooms are looking a little bit dated, but everything else about the hotel is very nice. The beds were really comfortable. We called the front desk a few times and they were always helpful.

Pros: Great location, good service
Cons: $25 parking fee, a bit of a "stale" feel
