I ride my bicycle along this trail twice a week, about 15 miles in each direction from Discovery Park. So many times I would like to just pull off the trail and hike down to one of the secluded beaches in late summer and early fall. Picture perfect.
How lucky Sacramento is to have this great bike trail that passes through so many locales along the American River. Whether you are biking or walking you will love this bike path. Now to have the Little Pocket open up so we can connect the Sacramento River Trail to downtown.
Thirty-five miles of pristine bike trail between Discovery Park and Folsom Lake. Although it is not, it seems like a wilderness trail. It's that secluded and protected from civilization. Not a safe place for strollers, tykes on wobbly bikes, or for walking dogs - who should all stick with the many parks along the trail.
32 miles from Old Sacramento to Folsom Lake. Great place to get away for a bike ride or a walk. No worry about cars, just enjoy the view. Evenings can include great wildlife viewing-deer, turkey, ducks, and the occasional coyote.
It is a stunning trail. The only part that I didn't like was that the maps do not have a "You are Here" so not being from the area it was difficult to discern how far I had gone. Overall it is a wonderful trail and easy to do.
